Just so it can be continued to be worked on....[edit]

I put the whole thing here: User:Norton3600/sandbox/Patrick J. Donnelly Then I gave it some format tweaks to bring it into line with Wiki's style preferences. Study the differences. Sadly, your original article may well be deleted as a result of the AfD, but I would not wish you to become unhappy with wiki because of that. As you grant that you are a new editor, you have doubtless determined by now that the entire process here can be confusing in the extreme. This is not intentional... and has resulted from all the many editors who preceded you, each contributing to and creating the rules and guidelines that are attempts to control quality of submissions. You are invited and encouraged to ask questions and receive input from those of us who have preceded you. It may be possible to whip your article into better shape, with greater references, so it had a better chance of surviving when next put out into the main pages. Best regards, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And also, please know that the few articles I authored went through a lot of work in my "sandbox" before I moved them to the main pages. Though the wish is that editors coach new editors and give new articles the time needed to be improved, that is not always the case. As soon as a new article hits the main pages it immediatelt falls under scrutiny. My own first article came upon my wish to save a prior article that had been tossed on the trash pile. A very able editor came accross an article that was in a sad state and tagged it for deletion. It was a lot of work but I was able to bring it to a much better state: Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey. Along the way, the momentum carried it safely through the AfD and other editors helped make it shine. This lead to my wishing to then eliminate a few "redlinks" with the article. So I did my research. found my sources, and began creating an article about the film's creator, which you can see at Harry Kloor. Next came a little tougher one about the film's director Daniel St. Pierre. Even as pretty as this second one was, it got tossed into AfD... but I was able to further strengthen it and it survived. The moral here is that an editor, even the most experienced ones, will use their "sandbox" to create and develop an article... to make it shine... before then moving the contents from the workspace into the main wiki pages. And even then it is not "safe". Unfortunately, not understanding or knowing about the use of a "sandbox workspace", many new editors simply create something on the main pages and then become surprised, hurt, angry, biter, discouraged or worse, because the article is seen as not ready for the main pages and is tossed immediately to AfD or "tagged" for a "speedy deletion". If it had been created in a workspace first, they would have had the luxury of time to make it shine. You now have that luxury. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:57, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the good wishes... but now that the article is in a user workspace, you can now continue working on it. Feel free to ask for advice and input. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:49, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Picture Patrick J.Donnelly.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
