I'm willing to have it removed if consensus changes, but a strong committee of copyeditors did not think it was a problem. I am not applying my personal preference, like your preference for dmy, but MOS:DATETIES makes it clear that "Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the date format most commonly used in that nation. For the United States this is (for example) July 4, 1976". That is why I am changing articles on American individuals, bands and companies to use mdy. I apply DMY in articles where that is correct based on national ties and I apply MDY in articles where that is correct based on national ties. I am not changing the citation style, only the date format you selected incorrectly. Yes, I know you think that the mdy date format is "non-professional", but can you acknowledge that it's the Wikipedia standard for American subjects?
