Circular categorization[edit]

Greetings! I see you're adding categories to a number of categories, which is good. However, in many cases, you're creating loops.

For example, in this edit, you added "National security" as a category to which "Security" belongs. However, National security is already a subcategory of Security. Your addition made National security a subcategory of Security, which is a subcategory of National security, which is a subcategory of Security...

As a general rule, the subcategories that are members of a category should not be added as categories to which that parent category belongs. If you have any questions, please ask. —C.Fred (talk) 11:44, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want them for a "See also" purpose, there is a {{See also}} tag available for that. Wikipedia:Categories#Cycles should usually be avoided has details and guidance. —C.Fred (talk) 11:57, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
