An NPOV issue in Yoshiyuki Tomino

Hi, I hope you're doing well. I'd like to bring into your notice an issue which has been prevalent in the Yoshiyuki Tomino article for a few months now and which has been concerning me for quite a long period now; it is tarnishing the article's neutrality and quality, about one of anime's most influential directors and creators. The article was previously filled with inflammatory, OR and POV content such as "Kill-Em'All Tomino" claiming that many of Tomino's characters die in his works, with words such as brutal, etc. being used, all of which failed WP:BLP, after which I attempted to remove the content, but unfortunately, my edits were reverted (further details about this can be found here: Talk:Yoshiyuki Tomino). The article was subsequently reviewed in the WP:BLP noticeboard, to which many editors expressed concerns regarding the article's neutrality (especially, the entire section on the "Kill-em-All" diatribes and it containing original research and POV content), however nothing was unfortunately done to remove the inflammatory content, as there were no experienced editors familiar with the policy managing the article. I then rewrote the section (in its current form), to try and mantain at least a degree of neutrality, but I was still unable to mantain neutrality in it, due to Quiddity99 insisting on adding the inflammatory content. Neutral editors have continously expressed concerns, similar to mine, regarding the significance of all of this inflammatory "kill-em-all" content. I would therefore greatly appreciate it if you would look at the article and if possible, remove the POV and inflammatory content as you see fit, as your insight on this topic would be very beneficial to the article. There are several writers and directors in whose works characters die, but in my opinion, I do not see how this would be negative or even notable for it to be mentioned in an encyclopedic article. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 02:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Is this users actions allowed?

  • Hey there (:O) ... we have an ongoing debate over here on the status of an article. Now the thing I wanted to bring up was the editing and removal and well forceful rhetoric stating the result of the debate before it has even been decided. The one causing all this is User:Ideogram. I have tried so hard to be loving and understanding during this debate, but now I dont know if what the user is doing is right or wrong. I dont know who to go to, so I figure I may ask someone who is very familiar with the wikipedia world and how this should be dealt with maybe? Not sure. Please help. (:O) ---nima baghaei (talk) 03:40, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
The actions are certainly allowed. When it was nominated, there were no reliable sources. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:57, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

My signature

Sorry about stealing the superscript "?" for Help:Japanese next to your signature. After I added hiragana to my signature I thought it would be a good idea to mimic the nihongo template and I ended up copying you instead, and I only realized just now that you have one too. I probably had your 日本穣 somewhere in my subconscious. Mind if I continue to use it, off and on? Dekimasu? 07:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Hideki Matsui and the city of Komatsu

Thank you for editing Komatsu, Ishikawa. I appreciate you as a former Ishikawa resident.

Hideki Matsui, a current player for the New York Yankees, was born and raised in nearby Neagari. A museum dedicated to him is located in Komatsu.

This description is inaccurate. His birthplace is very very close to Komatsu, while there is still Neagari, as well as his baseball museum.

See Hideki Matsui Baseball Museum on Google Maps. You will see a border line between Komatsu and (former) Neagari, currently merged into Nomi, Ishikawa. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Takot (talkcontribs) 02:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC).

Okay, I'm confused. The map you linked shows the museum is in Komatsu, which is what the sentences you quoted say. Neagari is near Komatsu. What exactly is incorrect here? ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:59, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. The map I linked shows the museum is in Nomi (Neagari), NOT Komatsu. Locating just a few hundreds feet away from the boundary line, the north-west side of the line including the museum is a part of Nomi. Other map would show better. The broken line stands for the boundary, and you will see 石川県能美市 (Nomi, Ishikawa) at the lower-right corner of this map. In the other way, see the museum brochure. Indeed, the closest highway exit to the museum is Komatsu IC, the closest airport is Komatsu Airport, and the closest station is JR Komatsu station, however, the address says Yamaguchi-machi, Nomi, Ishikawa. --Takot 13:43, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, with it being so close to the border, I can see why people might be confused. I've made the change. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 16:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Takeshi Honda

I hope you're doing well. While going through a few entries, I found out that that the article for Takeshi Honda (animator) (a highly noted animator behind several noted series) was recently nominated for speedy deletion, which, in my humble opinion, is most completely unjustified. If you are free, could you look at this matter? My apologies for taking your time (^_^). ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 23:36, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I expanded it. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:18, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Question

If you are given a warning, such as over 3RR, can you remove it from your own talk page? Giovanni33 has been warned twice (once by me), but he keeps deleting them. Surely this is wrong because if someone else comes along, they might warn rather than report for reverting after the original warning. What do you think? John Smith's 23:34, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, you can remove them. They're still there in the history, so don't worry about it. If it comes down to it, any admin can look through the history and see that he was previously warned. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:55, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Happy Spread-the-funny and-slighty-random-love day!

:) pschemp (talk) 01:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I hope you're doing well. The Japanese language article has recently been victim to a major spate of vandalism, some of which has gone unchecked e.g. the entire introduction of the article was removed by a vandal, and this went unchecked for more than two days, before I noticed and subsequently added it back. Therefore, I think the article should be semi-protected, as this is an article of high importance on the WP:JP importance scale. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 08:47, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you also very much for all of the assistance and help you've been kind enough to provide; you're a very good friend to have (^_^). ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 08:50, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
The vandalism doesn't seem out of control, so the best thing to do right now is just monitor it closely and revert any vandalism. Semi-protection is reserved for cases of uncontrolled or overwhelming vandalism by new or anonymous (IP) accounts. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 16:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Japan Academy Prize (film)

i understand what it means, it's just extremely poor form. if it's known by two names, list the two names. --emerson7 | Talk 01:03, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I disagree about it being poor form. However, I'm willing to compromise and list both alternate titles despite there only being three letters difference. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 01:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
you may disagree, but i'll bet you cannot find any reputable encyclopaedia or journal that would express an idea using such informal notation....it's just not done. --emerson7 | Talk 03:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
I'd have to look, but I've seen it in several. It's really not all that uncommon, and it certainly saves time. Regardless, I've already changed the article (about three hours ago), so there's really no point in pressing the matter any further. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:58, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

YUI

Thanks for making a royal mess with your moving, renaming and redirecting for the YUI article. YUI now leads to a redirect page, and doesn't redirect to the appropriate article directly... Also, when there is no other articles called only YUI, there is no reason to add a (singer) tag in the article name. It was fine as it were. Please fix it. --Ifrit 20:06, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind words. I will cherish them always. Note that everything was fine until you moved the article back to the wrong title. Further discussion on the talk page there. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:02, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
You've got your facts mixed up, I didn't move anything. --Ifrit 12:53, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Overturning your WP:RM decision

I moved Historical eastern Germany to Former eastern territories of Germany despite your declaration of the debate as not having reached consensus here. There was more or less consensus that the old title was bad, and this was the second or third move request that failed because we couldn't agree on a title (while we could agree that the old title wasn't very good; Piotrus' research showed that is wasn't used anywhere but on Wikipedia). Not moving would have probably meant that we'd have to have the same discussion again in three months. Anyway, if you still disagree, please revert my related edits (I won't revert back) but help us find a way out of this mess. Thank you, Kusma (talk) 15:12, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good to me, as long as you think there's a consensus. That whole discussion was a huge, confusing mess. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:05, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Srebrenica Massacre / Genocide

Although I agree with the outcome your abrupt intervention to close the survey without prior notice to the Discussion page was yet another example of administrators' rude and arbitrary action. --Opbeith 14:09, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Dark Nemesis Studios

its been a while, and you havent responded to my last question: why did you delete Dark Nemesis Studios, and why did you not notify me, or leave a reason? it was not "Blatant Advertising". pages like Game Maker have a link to the site. same here. and there is nothing wrong with that. either way, you must at least say why. it was a good page, full contents, made in 5 days, no explicit content, no advertising, and it just got... *Deleted*. no reason, either.

If you need an accomplishment, we're number one on GMG Topsites(Many Game Maker users vote on the best GM related site), and we've been for a while. Here's the link.[[1]] Just click "Enter Without Voting" to see the results. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SupernaviX (talkcontribs).

I stand by my decision. That article was nothing but and advertisement. If you wish, you can bring it up at Deletion review and we can let others chime in. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:23, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Your help required

As part of an expansion in adding staff sections to anime-based articles and translation projects from the Japanese wiki, user Sjones23 tirelessly added a staff section to the RahXephon article. Unfortunately, this staff section was later removed from the article and moved to the talk page by another editor without even attempting to reaching consensus and even after its importance was correctly established. Even after all of this, Sjones23 created the article List of RahXephon staff, which was curiously, only a couple of days later, nominated for deletion by a one-purpose username called Sterdehn. If you check Sterdehn's contributions, it has only been involved in creating this AfD, so I greatly suspect that this username is a sockpuppet used by someone who doesn't want to have this AfD tied to their real account. I feel staff lists are essential on anime articles, and whenever I expand or create an anime article, I always add them to the article, mostly translating information from the Japanese wiki, as do many other well-meaning editors such as Sjones23. Therefore, I feel this AfD and the removal of this essential section to be completely unjustified, and as a pure bad faith nomination. You might also want to see the related discussion at the article's talk page. As always, your input and assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 20:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what I can do with this one. That credit list is far more extensive than I've seen on any other article. Most I've seen have 15-20 lines. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:46, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, you're right. It seems that this issue has been resolved, though, anyway. My apologies for taking your time, and I hope you're doing well (^_^). ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 03:47, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Szechuan vs Sichuan

You removed comments made by me on the Talk:Szechuan_cuisine. These comments were not a "personal attack". It seems a little dodgy to me, that both you and the other user in question both share very similar interests and user pages. Your removal of my comments is biased and unfair. If it was a personal attack (which it was not) you are surely aware that "The community has not reached a consensus about whether personal attacks should be removed". Instead of ruining the debate, and unfairly removing comments, you should try contributing to it. Djwatson 05:28, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

The comments were certainly a personal attack (you wrote: "You're obviously little more than wapanese undergrad (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Wapanese) with no idea about China, the language, the culture and the cuisine. Fool.") I'm not sure how you can view these comments as anything other than a personal attack. As for my alleged bias, feel free to have any other admin offer an opinion on this. Your comments were removed per the guidelines here. Feel free to re-add your comments again without attacking the others in the discussion. Thanks. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:35, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Deletion Of Chips

You removed a wiki while I was in the process of creating it. The article was about my school literary magazine, and linked from the High School page. help out

hello nihonjoe, since you've looked into this, can you help remove those false vandalism warnings from my page? they are inaccurate but when i remove them people descend on the page telling me to leavee them there. thanks 71.112.7.212 05:29, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

They are telling you to leave them there because there is no indication—other than your constant whining to other editors—that you have learned the lesson of what happend and why you are in this position now. If you spend 1/2 the energy you spend in whining and worrying about your talk page and place that into other things, you would truly be acting in good faith. Regarding diffs, there are documented diffs right on your talk page—right here—showing exactly what the issue is. I'm not going to repeat what was said, but if you are upset at these warnings, maybe you should read the very solid and real advice given to you as to how to go about doing the changes you are obsessed with making. So far the only attempts at discussion happen after another editor reverts your edits. How about starting the discussion BEFORE that happens and act in good faith. Also, you still have not gotten your own account on Wiki despite days of you battling this issue and simply trying to hide your behavior on the page. I'm heartened that now other editors are seeing who you are and what you do 71.112.7.212. Now please, with so many people paying attention, perhaps you should simply stop worrying about your talk page and act positively elsewhere on Wiki and show that what you want to do is valid and good. By that example people will believe you are acting in good faith. Otherwise, you are indeed a troll and are pushing the buttons of dozens of editors who are growing tired of your behavior. --BaseballDetective 05:33, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

sorry for getting this guy on your page, joe. his diff-less "vandalism" warnings and personal attacks are really unwiki-like. (another admin has stepped in to clear things up) 71.112.7.212 05:40, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
