Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Nickiandyeoutsold! Your additions to Kanye West have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:32, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

February 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm RogueShanghai. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Nicki Minaj, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. shanghai.talk to me 05:41, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to assume bad faith when dealing with other editors, as you did at User:Tbhotch, you may be blocked from editing. Assume that they are here to improve rather than harm Wikipedia. —MelbourneStartalk 05:55, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Kanye West, you may be blocked from editing. You have been warned not to change the photo. The photo has been chosen by discussion on the talk page. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

March 2022[edit]

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Offset (rapper). Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. April 2022[edit]

Information icon Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Teflon Don (album). Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 19:36, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Future (rapper). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Zinnober9 (talk) 02:42, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Russ[edit]

When they were released Russ called his earlier works albums and they were reviewed as such. Later he called them mixtapes but that was for commercial reasons of some sort, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 23:23, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

this makes sense, thanks Nickiandyeoutsold (talk) 23:24, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May 2022[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Queen (Nicki Minaj album), it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. per WP:CRYSTAL, anything could happen between now and summer 2022. The album could be released early, it could be serially delayed, she might cancel it, retire etc. There's lots of possibilities and therefore too much speculation. We generally don't add albums to the infobox until we have a confirmed name, date and article.Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 22:07, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

makes sense, thanks for the insight Nickiandyeoutsold (talk) 23:43, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:King’s Disease III[edit]

Hello, Nickiandyeoutsold. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "King’s Disease III".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 02:36, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop making things up[edit]

I’ve been looking over your past edits and notice one very big pattern. You tend to make up your own information and front it as factual. Changing a large portion of Donda 2's page based on a rumor and especially saying that Rick James praised Nicki Minaj's sample of Super Freak even though he died in 2004. Buddy look, I’m going to level with you, I use to do the same things you did. I took for granted the right to edit these pages. I grew from it and learned, and you can too. But you got to stop making up your own information and writing things that aren’t factual as if they were. Provide a source, and write a coherent sentence or paragraph about what you want to say. Instead of saying "smash hit song" or "#1 song" just say single or song. Simple is better. If you continue with this pattern there will be someone who has enough and blocks you. I don’t want to have to come back here and give you a warning, so please, take this as advice and as constructive criticism, and learn from it. Zvig47 (talk) 05:57, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i don’t know who the fuck you think you are bucking up anonymously on someone’s talk page, but stop lmfao. it takes a quick google search to see that his estate (under his name) expressed their approval for the song on twitter.
also my donda 2 edits were factually correct. the album is going to have an entirely new rollout shortly, as made known by ye’s team. use your google machine (the same one you used to make this dumbass post on my page).
miss me with this bullshit. Nickiandyeoutsold (talk) 16:53, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First off this isn’t anonymous, I literally credited myself at the bottom. Second there’s a difference in saying that Rick James praised a song and his estate, and even so you didn't cite it. If your Donda 2 edits were "factually correct", then CITE THEM. And look I tried with you man, if you’re warned or blocked after this just know I tried to help you. Zvig47 (talk) 17:14, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Amplifying what Zvig47 said: it isn't enough for edits to be factually correct; they must also be verifiable. If you don't cite a reliable source, the edit can be challenged and removed. —C.Fred (talk) 03:08, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Comments need to focus on the content, not the contributors. Comments that include personal attacks are not allowed, and users who persist in making such attacks may be blocked. —C.Fred (talk) 03:10, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
