Recent edit reversion[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:33, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Government Model Higher Secondary School, Perinthalmanna, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Government Model Higher Secondary School, Perinthalmanna, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. July 2022[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Law enforcement in India, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources.
In addition to refraining from original research, it appears that you are marking nearly all of your edits as minor. Please do not do this. This flag is reserved for actual minor changes, such as a spelling correction. It should not be used at all when adding new content to Wikipedia articles. Thank you, Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 17:59, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Nairhardwell

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SunDawn, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Kerala Motor Vehicles Department, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SunDawn}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

A tag has been placed on Department of Health and Family Welfare (Kerala) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://wbpolice.gov.in/WBP/Common/Health.aspx, https://www.wbhealth.gov.in/contents/governance, and https://ythi.net/abbreviations/english/what-does-bmoh-mean-what-is-the-full-form-of-bmoh/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Request reason:

Dear members of the Wikipedia community,

I'm writing to appeal my recent block from editing on Wikipedia. I understand that my actions were in violation of the site's copyright policies, and I sincerely apologize for any harm or inconvenience that I may have caused.

I realize now that I made a mistake in copying content from another source without properly attributing it. I understand the importance of respecting the intellectual property of others, and I assure you that this was an oversight on my part.

I value the Wikipedia community and the platform that it provides for knowledge-sharing and collaboration. I would be grateful for the opportunity to learn from my mistake and continue to contribute to this valuable resource.

I commit to taking the necessary steps to ensure that my future contributions are in full compliance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I also pledge to be more careful and thoughtful in my editing going forward, and to prioritize attribution and originality in all of my work.

Thank you for your consideration, and I hope that you will allow me the opportunity to regain your trust and contribute to the community once again.

Sincerely, Nair Hardwell

Decline reason:

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:25, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Copyright is a legal concept that gives the creator of an original work the exclusive right to control how their work is used, distributed, and reproduced. It is a form of intellectual property law that protects creative works such as books, music, videos, images, and software from being used without permission. Wikipedia is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, which allows anyone to use, share, and modify Wikipedia content as long as they provide attribution and share their derivative works under the same license.Copyrighted content is not allowed on Wikipedia because it would violate copyright law and the rights of the original creators. Wikipedia is committed to respecting intellectual property rights and only allows content that is either in the public domain or released under a compatible free license. Copyrighted content can only be used on Wikipedia if it meets certain criteria, such as being used in a way that qualifies as fair use or if it is released under a compatible free license. Fair use allows for limited use of copyrighted material for purposes such as criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research. To avoid violating the copyright policy in the future, I will make sure to only use content that is either in the public domain or released under a compatible free license. I will also ensure that any copyrighted content I use meets the criteria for fair use and provide proper attribution for any content that I use. Additionally, I will review and follow the guidelines on Wikipedia's copyright policy to ensure that I am using content in a way that is permissible under the law.

Decline reason:

As this still does not demonstrate an understanding of Wikipedia's policies on copyrighted material, I am declining this request. Specifically, the nonfree content policy is far stricter than fair use law. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:07, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
