"Toy dogs" need NOT necessarily be "Schoßhunde"[edit]

Hey there, by coincidence I have noticed that you linked the German article de:Schoßhund to Toy dog last year. Evidently, that was not a good idea. A "toy dog" is equal to a "Schoßhund" ( = lap dog) but not identical (analogous to the double and the triple equality sign in mathematics). A suitable German term would be "Zwerghund" (cf. Swedish Wikipedia sv:Dvärghund). Well, in layman's terms, this means that a "lap dog" will always denote a dog that sits on the mr's/mrs.'s lap and is frequently carried around in a suitable bag. But it's only so that a toy dog can sometimes be used as a lap dog, but need not necessarily be one - simply because some of them are too fidgety to qualify as a lap dog, so whilst carrying them around may still be possible, they would always bustle about in the room - "quiet" is not really their middle name.
