Hi, thanks for the advice and for sending those pages. I hope to contribute to Wikipedia as best I can, adding/editing facts if needed.

Happy First Edit Day!

Happy First Edit Day, Midgrid/Archive 6, from the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day!

Patman21 (talk) 00:22, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi!...

...and well done!!!! I see we've had a recent burst in recipients and members. It was well kept up to date. I want to know everything that is new and is needed. Chubbennaitor 17:55, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

P.S. Oh and Happy B'day. My sisters B'day was 6th August and sadly the death of one of my mums colleagues.

Well done for being on Wiki' two years - I'll be reaching that milestone in a few months! BTW, all's looking good at the FAC.... =) D.M.N. (talk) 19:19, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes it was apart from one of the worst journeys back on the ferry across the Atlantic Ocean to Plymouth. The Earth's still spinning. Uum how's the NW been doig for ya? Chubbennaitor 07:19, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Great! Not all the way across the atlantic but over the Atlantic that runs alongside West France from Spain. Chubbennaitor 07:41, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Forti GA review

Hi! I have reviewed the Forti article, and placed it on hold as I have some concerns over the article. I have described these on its talk page. Please let me know when you have addressed my concerns, and I will be happy to take a second look. Regards, Resolute 05:22, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi! Yes, I intend to complete the review. I wouldn't leave someone hanging over my frustration with an unrelated issue. I'll take a second look tomorrow to update the review. Regards, Resolute 01:31, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome! Great job on that article. Resolute 16:40, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

SNIST

Hi Diniz, could you please tell me what's an SNIST screamer??

Hydedit Hydedit (talk) 06:01, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

A little something...

The Original Barnstar
For helping me get the 1995 Japanese Grand Prix article to FA-class by providing references from your Autocourse book and by providing suggestions on the talkpage. Thanks! D.M.N. (talk) 15:59, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Could you give me very brief reference for the page number to and from for the Pacific round. I'm guessing from about p. 209 to p. 215, but just want to make sure. =D D.M.N. (talk) 16:06, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. I take it all the statistics are on pages 214 + 215! When do you leave home and go back to Uni for the new term? D.M.N. (talk) 21:10, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. Just asking in case I need anything. =) D.M.N. (talk) 11:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Could you possibly provide me with the top ten times from the second practice session that took place. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 14:13, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! Do you think it looks good so far, from the start down to the end of the practice section? D.M.N. (talk) 14:59, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much! =D D.M.N. (talk) 15:50, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
I've left comments, with a request (concerning Hill). Also, is there some kind of rundown of the main events during the race - at the moment I find myself sourcing the BBC coverage for most of the race action! Could you also give notes from the book for the practice, race and post-race sections. Sorry if that's asking too much. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 16:16, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. No rush. =) D.M.N. (talk) 20:22, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your quotes, which I've since integregated into the article. I responded to the comment at the bottom of the talkpage. One final thing (for now). At the back of the Autocourse, is there by any chance a similar table to this one (see first table). If so, could you provide me the page ref. Again, thanks for the quotes! =) D.M.N. (talk) 18:22, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Also, I'm almost certain one of the words in the Coulthard post-race quote is wrong. It read as: "In retrospect, I wish I could blame someone else for this decision, because I can't." - I think that's meant to be "but I can't". D.M.N. (talk) 18:31, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. D.M.N. (talk) 19:24, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Motorsport Digital Archive

Hi. I haven't really had time to get into it in depth, but here're my thoughts so far:

  • It's got the whole of the content of the magazine (as far as I can tell) for the period in question. (Including many many pages of ads in the 1980s version). The pages are in colour where the original was. That should make it a really useful resource.
  • The content has been scanned fairly carefully, and at a plenty high enough resolution to read properly.
  • You access the content through a flash reader, which is a bit limited in what it can do. You get two different levels of zoom, and flipping from page to page is a bit slow. It has a search facility through which you can search either a single issue or the whole content of the archive. It's not able to highlight the search terms on the page though, so you may still have a bit of a search on your hands if it's not immediately obvious where the relevant text is. You can also browse through a series of thumbnails. You can also print from the reader.
  • The content is stored as a set of jpg images and txt files. So if you need to you could, with a little trouble, copy and paste content.

If you're interested in the periods in question, I'd say it was pretty good value - 120 back issues for 40-odd quid. I could send you some example pages if you want to see what sort of stuff the magazine covered at the time. Hope that's helpful! 4u1e (talk) 08:00, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Not here

I'm not here for the weekend. Chubbennaitor 08:02, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the big text I got carried away. I'm sorry on weekend races my family say oh we're going to Spain or London. I enjoy going it's just when they plant it it is conveniently placed on a GP weekend. I'm going to see some relatives and maybe Woking. Chubbennaitor 12:29, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of RationalWiki

A tag has been placed on RationalWiki, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
A7

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. (However, I will say that I have placed the {{hangon}} template on the article in order to give time for editors to discuss. Perhaps you and other editors can take this opportunity to add to the article to clearly establish its notability.) -- JeffBillman (talk) 01:01, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Images

Hi Diniz. Just wanted to say thanks for all the good work you do adding images to F1-related (and probably lots of other) articles. And the best thing is, when I look at an edit history and see an edit from you with the description "+image", I know I don't need to check it, because you always do it properly. Keep up the good work! DH85868993 (talk) 02:43, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Send out tomorrow

I think the NW should go out tomorrow due there's no other things going on. Chubbennaitor 17:51, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Right can you see if there are any mistakes. I have but you seem to be better. Chubbennaitor 18:58, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Great sending out. Chubbennaitor 08:17, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

OK I thought that was doing but I was wrong fine. Chubbennaitor 16:22, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Comments and editing

Thanks for your advice. I saw that you've edited the 2008 Formula Superleague season's template and you let some comments like "Fisichella Motor Sport link". How can I do it? Can you help me? Thank you again. P.S.: Sorry 'bout my english.(Edmurbobby (talk) 06:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC))

Benetton and 1994

At WT:F1, you said: "For example, Flavio Briatore wrote an open letter to Max Mosley before the Spanish GP criticising the sudden changes to the technical regulations following the San Marino and Monaco GPs, and questioning whether the FIA had the expertise to police the driver aids ban" - what page reference is this as I can integregate that into the current part I'm working on. D.M.N. (talk) 07:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 11:52, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I'll see how I get on with the current material (along with references from books that I have). Hopefully, the article *should* be in the mainspace once you get back off holiday (although progress will be slow from Monday as I go back to school to the Sixth Form). D.M.N. (talk) 14:19, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Thank you verry much! =D D.M.N. (talk) 07:23, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Goodyear logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Goodyear logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Pic

Umm I' a bit worried about the picture being his. Fair enough if there were other pictures from there but I can't see any. Chubbennaitor 17:04, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

No. I want it out on the 2nd of October or thereabouts. I've already added the Singapore GP to the NW well would have if the thing would save. Chubbennaitor 17:47, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Allegations in 1994 season

I've just about finished with the Background section. How do you think it looks? D.M.N. (talk) 20:51, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. ;) At first I had no idea where to link Plank too, so I think I'll follow your suggestion. :) D.M.N. (talk) 06:48, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Also, I'm going to move it into the mainspace hopefully Saturday or Sunday so others can add bits etc. ;) D.M.N. (talk) 17:02, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
BTW, could you possibly scan a copy of the "The Law and Order Crisis" article from your Autocourse? If you can, can you send it to neldav03@hotmail.com. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 19:39, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. The article should *hopefully* be in the mainspace tomorrow or Saturday. :-) D.M.N. (talk) 14:19, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, it's in the mainspace now. See my comment here also. You might as well put details from the article straight into the article. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 20:06, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Can you help?

There's a new editor working on the Joe Kelly artice - he's actually Kelly's son. He asked me if I could help him upload some images, which he's apparently already uploaded to Commons, but he doesn't know how to move on from there. I'm no expert and I can't really offer any help to him, but I know you're more familiar with these things. Any chance of giving him a hand? He's at User talk:Ronankelly. Cheers! Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:51, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

I knew you were the right person, thanks a lot, it's much appreciated :o) Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:10, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Archive URLs

No problem, the archive url & date fields can be commented out when the site is up-and-running again fully. Most big websites are already available on the Wayback Machine (www.archive.org) but when I add a URL to an article, I'll put into archive.org as a search and it'll either show that it's already archived or add it to the list to be archived. That way it's always available for future use in case a site disappears or is revamped. AlexJ (talk) 18:03, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

A little help

What is the call uploading images from Emil Rensing from flickr? I've noticed a discussion on commons about authenticity of this user's images, and yet I've found quite a few of his images there. I noticed a new set of images for Chinese GP and wasn't sure if I should upload it. Neither of the images have valid EXIF data. LeaveSleaves talk 12:33, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
