March 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm C.Fred. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Willamina, Oregon seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Articles should be written as encyclopedia articles, not travel brochures. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 18:37, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Willamina, Oregon. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 18:48, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rough start[edit]

I noticed you have recently added some material to an article to help improve the depth and breadth of Wikipedia coverage. Unfortunately your additions did not comply with our policy of neutrality.

While Wikipedia truly is The encyclopedia anyone can edit, not all additions are welcome. Many of us spend countless hours reverting attempts to insert advertising and spam (and vandalism and systematic efforts to promote organizations or causes). This can make it seem like we are all cranky people, but that is far from perfectly true.

Please see The Five Pillars to understand our purpose in creating and maintaining Wikipedia and why hundreds of millions of people rely on it to begin learning about a subject. There are hours of reading linked from the Five Pillars because it is the core of our policies and guidelines. Please peruse the first level of links and try editing an article again. When edits are in line with the Five Pillars, other editors will defend them.

Also, you might find interesting our policy of Ignore All Rules. It may seem contradictory, but read the see alsos on that page. Thanks! —EncMstr (talk) 22:11, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
