Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute logo update

Hi Melesse, I'm the social media co-ordinator for Brock University, home to the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), and I noticed that the CCOVI [entry] has an out of date logo. Since I am not yet an autoconfirmed user, I cannot easily update the logo on the page. I don't understand this. You altered the article on the Calgary Tigers by removing the image there and leaving an empty thumbnail frame with big red notice in the middle of it, put up a notice on my talk page noting that "The non-free image you uploaded is replaceable by a free one", but then didn't bother to tell where the non-free image is.

If it isn't too much trouble, can you at least give me hint as to where the non-free image you're talking about is located - so that I can upload it and undo the damage you've done?

Wouldn't it have been much smarter to upload the new image first - or let me know where to at least find it so I could do it - before just going ahead and trashing the article?Michael Dorosh^Talk 20:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm insulted that you seem to think I'm purposely playing games or being difficult. I don't know where to find a free image, I just happen to know that a free image would be available because games occur all the time and are attended by hundreds or even thousands of people who could take an appropriately licensed photo of the uniform. You're joking, right? I don't go to hockey games and would have no means of taking such a photo. Besides which, genius, THE GAME THESE JERSEYS ARE BEING WORN IN DOESN'T EVEN HAPPEN UNTIL NEXT YEAR. They're mostly corporate businessmen at those things anyway (only ones who can afford season's tickets) and they don't take cameras for photo shoots. YOUR WORDS were that you had access to a free image, then you trashed the article by leaving an empty thumbnail box and basically left the thing to fester. Congratulations on making WP just a little bit suckier for everyone involved. Powertrippers like you are the reason people get fed up and move on. A more reasonable approach would have been to just wait and find a non-free image (since you think it is so easy) and replaced it. The image in question was released by the creator for the purpose of PR in any event, so its fair use was unquestionable. Certainly wasn't hurting anything. Now there is just a black hole in the article and a really dumb looking red link where the image was supposed to be. You're just lazy. Be insulted all you want, but don't claim you're not playing games. Of course you are. Have fun trashing articles. I'm just going to jump in here and declare WP:CIVIL. WP:Assume good faith. That is a pillar upon which Wikipedia is based. WP policy about replaceable non-free images is a sore spot, no doubt about it. But there are very good reasons for the policy. As for the style not being used until next season, WP:Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. To see if any interested editors in the area can shoot a photo for you, try asking on the article Talk page, and on irc://irc.freenode.net/wikipedia-en-help for other places to ask. In the meantime, the wikitext for the broken image area can be carefully <!-- commented --> so that it is more easily replaced when the image does show up: this hides the hole, and leaves a breadcrumb for later. Wondering If You Can Help

I am wanting to create a userbox about Autism and Aspergers Awareness and some other Autism and Aspergers userboxes. Problem is, the "Puzzle" ribbon just doesn't look the same as the other Awareness Ribbons, like this one and it isn't working out well. Is there something in whatever picture program you use to make a new ribbon in the same puzzle design (cause that can't change) but the same design as the ribbons currently on other boxes? I possibly could, but it would take longer than the "In the News" barnstar did, and I'm not too confident how nice I could make it look. When you say it needs to be the same pattern, do you mean the exact same puzzle piece shapes, or just the color scheme? Not really the exact same "pieces", just the same colors in the same places. You could probably make your own "pieces" just with the same colors in the same places (for closeness with the original), but again, that isn't something that needs to be done. People use the "Puzzle Piece Ribbon" for all kinds of things and it isn't exact, but it is the same colors, just not in the same places. So, the only thing that would be the same is the colors of the "pieces", just not where those colors fall. Need help with Image Retention.

User:Patelurology2/Shushrusha Citizens' Co-operative Hospital, Shivaji Park, Mumbai - is the title of a page being created. You have helped before for some concern about logo or other image. I had two images tagged to the page twice before. For some reason they were deleted from page. An attempt to reload and hold resulted in orphaning and delete from common. Advisory to disable the bot was encountered once but how do you do that . Anyway, need to images on the page. How to? Help. Thanks.

The front of hospital seems to have remained on one page since May; other image is missing. Both were missing on related page; reloaded same front image reloaded yesterday on the related similar. User:Patelurology2/Shushrusha Citizen's Co-operative Hospital, Dadar (W), Mumbai

The second image is titled logo at Shushrusha_Hospital_Mumbai_logo.jpg , and some other variations of the same used before, in commons. Image:Shushrushahospital_logo.jpg‎ This Blu backgroung logo/moto image needs to be above the other image of front of hosp. Deletion of File:Ross-Wallace.jpg

The article is David R. Ross - and actually it has been there more or less since I uploaded it... it is not the "header" picture but it is in the "books" section (as it is... well, the cover of a book, and the article is about a writer). If that's how you're using the image, then I don't recommend it. Unless you're referring to something specific about the book's cover design or something like that, it's inclusion in the article would really just be for decoration, and that doesn't make for an adequate fair use rationale. Charlie Jame Gallery

You nominated Charelie james gallery photo for deletion because a a free version could be used. However, I'm not aware of any free photos of this gallery. I also acquired permission from the author of the photo. It may not be the most illustrative photo but I think you should provide a better one before your remove it. I uploaded a picture to the Floyd C Bayne article. I have talked to the campaign and candidate spoken of in the article. It is their picture from their website that I uploaded with their permission. I did notice your rejection of speedy deletion of these files per CSD 8 (edit summary: Not on commons) and fixed the link to their Commons version. Now, you can really speedy delete them.

However, if you had read the error message that Wikimedia Commons gave, you'd have noticed their presence on Commons by yourself. Perhaps, you'd allow me to ask you to be a bit more careful in the future when performing your administrative duties?
