Deleted structure drawings

Hi! I noticed that you deleted a number of chemical structure drawings by User:El3ctr0nika around March 17. Could you point me to a list of these files so I can check whether any drug articles need new drawings? I have already dealt with Tricyclic, but I've no idea how to find out which other articles might need attention. Thanks --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 12:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Marin_French_Cheese_Company_logo.jpg)

Hello, I am now working on an article on the Marin French Cheese Company and have a draft under development in my sandbox. In the future, should I wait until the article is complete and live on Wikipedia before uploading a logo? Sorry if I made any extra work for you - I still have a lot to learn. - Jim Cullen328 (talk) 23:05, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, please do that next time. Melesse (talk) 06:14, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

You put a disputed fair use tag on File:Sajil-missile-3 8802301396 L600.jpg earlier today... I am curious as to what your reasoning was with that. The Iranians most certainly have not invited photographers to a viewing day at the missile factory, to take replacement photos from their released press photos. There's no current way to replace that image in any reasonable fashion.

Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 22:02, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

"Iran has not allowed independent press or photographers to the missile factory to photograph it; it is in no way actually replaceable at this time." So, by your own logic "Faris News Agency" must not be a news agency. So then what is it? If the photos are as rare and obscure as claimed (you say these are non-existent in the west), then this probably shouldn't be on Wikipedia per WP:NFCC#2 and WP:NFCC#4. -FASTILYsock(TALK) 07:19, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
The article already has this photo File:Sejjil 2 test launch.jpg. Melesse (talk) 07:48, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
The test launch image does not show any vehicle details, as it was taken from some distance and with back lighting.
FARS put the images on the web and the Iranian government and space agency then used them in their own press coverage of the launch / firing. The full images are available for free on the web, and thus our use here is not denying them any commercial usage.
Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 07:57, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Huh

Why did you delete my comment with no reason given whatsoever? — BQZip01 — talk 23:34, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Remember when I asked you not to make comments on my talk page unless completely necessary? If you want to keep that image, you can add to the discussion on the image page. Or you could ignore my request, but then don't wonder why I remove them. Melesse (talk) 03:59, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Fine, this will be my last on your talk page. However, that doesn't alleviate you from using an appropriate edit summary or appropriately engaging in discussion with other editors. Moreover, I have addressed this in the file's main page, but you have yet to respond. Since you do not seem to want to respond on the image page, your talk page is the next logical forum per WP:TALK. I viewed that as "necessary". We can always go to WP:ANI if you feel it is necessary. — BQZip01 — talk 06:26, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Cascode LNA.png

Hi, you speedy-deleted the image File:Cascode LNA.png. It was a very useful for the Low-noise amplifier article. I didn't see any discussion about the deletion (was there one?), so I don't know if any attempt was made to contact the original author. If the author was unreachable, or the image is definitely unsuitable for WP, I would like to upload something similar that is acceptable - but I need the original to do that. How can I see it? Thx. GyroMagician (talk) 16:19, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

No, there wasn't, because the image was missing important author information for over a week. You can try contacting the uploader, User:Guerberj. Melesse (talk) 13:38, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Wouldn't you consider it helpful to at least put a warning on the page(s) using an image, before deleting? The circuit diagram you removed was one of the most informative parts of the page. GyroMagician (talk) 14:36, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Re: Orphaned image notice

I have already received the notice of the same nature from a prior user. Thank you for your concern. --IViking (talk) 20:25, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Disney

So - can u undelete File:Pirates of the Carabian PA190094.jpg based on your opinion it is free, and change the license to CCBY3.0? Deror (talk) 09:00, 31 March 2010 (UTC) Thanks for the undeletion. Please see The commons view of the subject of FOP of disney rides - [1]. Until this dispute is settled I will not change the license to CCBY. But I have no objection to such change. Deror (talk) 09:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Why

Hello, I just wanted to know why you deleted my image 'File:Colurfull.gif'. Was it because of the name or was it because it was off me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Timothy.J.Hart (talkcontribs) 04:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC) Timothy.J.Hart (talk) 04:49, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

It did not include any source or licensing information and you had been notified and advised to add it a week ago. Melesse (talk) 05:31, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

please undelete my grandpas birthcertificate

Hello, I don't know why you deleted my grandpas birth certificate. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:BirthCertificate_JamesMaximeDuPont.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1 It was scanned from his personal things from my father. It is more than 80 years old and therefore subject to public domain anyway!. I did not get your message, you had my mail on my talk page. I think you are a bit overzealous in your speedy deletion. please revert it. If I had gotten a mail from you I would have reacted immediately, but I did not.

mike Mdupont (talk) 06:05, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

You got a message from User:Fred the Oyster on your talk page, notifying you that the image was missing source and license information. Please reupload it with the source information you told me, and an appropriate public domain license. Melesse (talk) 13:42, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Can you please just restore it? It is an obvious error on your side. I don not know where the image is ATM, and will have to search around for it. I did not get any email, and on my home page, I specifically asked for emails regarding deletions. thanks, mike

James Michael DuPont 05:47, 2 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdupont (talkcontribs)

I don't see how it's an obvious error on my side, you are the one who didn't include any source or license information, and you are the one who didn't add it after you were notified. Melesse (talk) 04:30, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

A redirect? I was involved with that indef'd user and recall having talk on that page. Cheers, Jack Merridew 05:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry but I deal almost exclusively with images so I don't know exactly what you're asking for. Please ask another admin. Melesse (talk) 05:56, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I thought it would be clear if you clicked the above talk page; you just deleted it as a redirect but I'm wondering where that history went. I'm thinking it was an inadvertent deletion. Cheers, Jack Merridew 06:00, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Odd, I wonder how that happened. Melesse (talk) 06:03, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
No worries; mis-clicks happen. Sorry I was too brief with my initial post. And pleased to meet you; I tag a fair number of images for speedy and expect you've dealt with it. Cheers, Jack Merridew 06:07, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Kindly restore

Hi could you please undelete File:AdhiKumbheshwararTemple trimmed.jpg and allow me to add the necessary tags. The image is a trimmed version of [2] that I am using in article Kumbakonam which I've nommed for a GA. Besides, I cannot help commenting on the impoliteness of the tagger who has not bothered to inform me, the uploader.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service

Thanks a lot :-)-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 17:21, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

File:Emily Schooley headshot.jpg

hi,

My watch list listed that you deleted the file "File:Emily Schooley headshot.jpg" but it is still there - has it been re-created ?

Thanks

Codf1977 (talk) 08:16, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Looks like it was uploaded to Commons under the same name so it shows through here. Melesse (talk) 04:27, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Image deletion

[3] I got permission to use this file from the publishers, i forwarded the e-mail to permissions-en @ wikimedia.org but have not heard back from them yet. So i uploaded the image inder the fair use licence until i heard back from the permissions guys. Would it be best to let this file be deleted and then upload under the permissions given by the publisher? mark nutley (talk) 17:50, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Well now the image is in an article so it's not a problem. When the appropriate permission comes through you can just correct the license, you don't need to reupload it. Melesse (talk) 04:32, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

File: Thunderbird from Above.jpg

The image that you deleted did cite the author. I have written permission from the photographer, giving me express permission to use this photograph for wikipedia. He asked me to cite the photo as I did. Next thing I know, you delete it, stating that it didn't cite the author.

So, I am wondering, for what reason you deleted the photo, when it was cited and I have express written permission to use the photo? Please help me understand your motivation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiwalk1 (talkcontribs) 01:44, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

It's not a problem with the author, it's a problem with the license/permission. Please have him send an email to the OTRS system that releases the image under an appropriate license. Melesse (talk) 06:08, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

41Clublogo2.jpg

Dear Melesse,

Please do not delete this image. The article for which I uploaded it was deleted by Nawlinwiki on grounds of copyright infringement.

I have addressed all the issues that Nawlinwiki has raised, including obtaining and forwarding written permission from the President of 41 Club for the use of material, and providing various independent sources of information, and am expecting him/her to restore the page shortly, at which point this will no longer be an orphan file.

Freaky Green Eyes image

When I go to the site where the picture is, I see that it says that the address does not exist but when I click the link I have there it brings me to the page I am working on. I do not understand why it is doing this. Can you help me? Noeljack (talk) 20:13, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

I don't exactly understand what you're asking for help with? Melesse (talk) 05:56, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

License information

I've been on the Wiki for eight years now, and created thousands (literally) of new articles. Yet the image tagging remains a complete mystery to me in spite of my best efforts.

I uploaded an image for A-10 Cuba, and typed in what I believed were complete details, following the guide in the template. You quickly marked it as missing information. If that is the case...

1) what information exactly is missing? 2) why doesn't the template include an area for typing this in?

Maury Markowitz (talk) 22:53, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

It's missing licensing information, see this page for more information. The image upload form does include a field to fill this in, but it's a drop-down selection menu, not a manual entry. Melesse (talk) 01:00, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
So why didn't you just add it? Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:46, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not the one that wants to prevent it from being deleted. Melesse (talk) 03:45, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
I know, I am, but I can't figure out what to do. Please help! Maury Markowitz (talk) 11:18, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
See this page for more information. Melesse (talk) 19:37, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Image delete

On my talk page, you have asked about an image that is not used in any page that may require to be deleted. I have replied to that message; please delete the specific file of concern as the original page that the file was used had been moved to user space. Thank you Scchan (talk) 02:54, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

You uploaded it a long time ago, someone just realized it had no fair-use rationale. I added it. Could you double-check it (especially the "Source" field, since only you know that for sure)? DMacks (talk) 14:48, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I actually only reduced the size so it would comply with fair use, the original uploader is User:Skier_Dude. Melesse (talk) 04:59, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, wondered if you could help

One of my album articles - 'All Those Born With Wings' - was moved, I believe mistakenly, to 'All Those Born with Wings'. If the latter is correct then it would appear to contradict the Allmusic Review title for the album. I have made a mistake in moving it back and have lost the edit history, so I wondered if you could help put this right. Thank you User:Nostalgic34 (talk) 07:50, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I deal almost exclusively with images, so I don't know how to help you with that. Please ask another administrator. Melesse (talk) 10:50, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
