Proposed deletion of Mehboob desai[edit]

The article Mehboob desai has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

"ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠ"નો લોગો : ડૉ. મહેબૂબ દેસાઈ[edit]

આગામી ૧ ડીસેમ્બરના રોજ ૯૫ વર્ષની ગાંધીજી દ્વારા સ્થાપિત ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના ૬૨માં પદવીદાન સમારંભમાં ભારતના રાષ્ટ્રપતિ માં.પ્રણવ મુખરજી મુખ્ય મહેમાન તરીકે આવી રહ્યા છે. ગાંધીજીએ ગુજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠની સ્થાપના ૧૮ ઓક્ટોબર ૧૯૨૦ના રોજ કરી હતી. એ અસહકાર આંદોલનનો યુગ હતો. પરિણામે દેશના યુવાનોને રાષ્ટ્રીય કેળવણી આપવા અને સ્વાતંત્ર સંગ્રામના સૈનિકોના સંતાનોને રચનાત્મક અને રાષ્ટ્રીય શિક્ષણ આપવાના ઉદેશથી એક સમિતિની રચના કરવામાં આવી. સદરહુ સમિતિએ ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠનું બંધારણ રચી સં. ૧૯૭૬ના આસો સુદ ૭ તા. ૧૮.૧૦.૧૯૧૮ને દિવસે ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠની સ્થાપના કરી. તેના નિયામકો તરીકે એ સમિતિના ચાલુ સભ્યોની નિમણુંક કરવામાં આવી. સમિતિના પ્રમુખ મહાત્મા ગાંધીજીએ ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના કુલપતિનું પદ સ્વીકાર્યું. અને તેના આજીવન કુલપતિ બની રહ્યા. મહા વિદ્યાલયના પ્રથમ આચાર્ય શ્રી અસુદમલ ટેકચંદ ગિડવાનીજી બન્યા. જેઓ અંગ્રેજીના અધ્યાપક હતા.

ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠ રાષ્ટ્રીય શિક્ષણ આપતી સંસ્થા તરીકે અસ્તિત્વમાં આવી હતી. પરિણામે સર્વધર્મ સમભાવનો સિધ્ધાંત તેના પાયામાં હતો અને આજે યથાવત છે. જે ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોનો અભ્યાસ કરતા પણ માલુમ પડે છે. ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોમાં હિંદુ અને ઇસ્લામ બને ધર્મના શિક્ષણ અને સંસ્કારોને લગતા સુત્રો દ્રશ્યમાન થાય છે. ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોના પ્રથમ વર્તુળમાં ઉપર "સા વિદ્યા યા વિમુક્તયે" "सा विद्या या विमुक्तये" લખ્યું છે. જે શ્રીવિષ્ણુપુરાણના પ્રથમ સ્કંધના ૧૯માં અધ્યાયના ૪૧માં શ્લોકમાંથી લેવામાં આવેલા છે.એ સપૂર્ણ શ્લોક નીચે મુજબ છે. "तत्कर्म यन्न बन्धाय सा विद्या या विमुक्तये। आयासायापरं कर्म विद्यऽन्या शिल्पनैपुणम्॥१-१९-४१॥ "सा विद्या या विमुक्तये" અર્થાત "એ વિદ્યા (જ્ઞાન ) છે જે માનવીને બંધનોથી મુક્ત કરે છે." આખા શ્લોકનો અર્થ થાય છે, "સાચું કર્મ એ છે જે બંધન નિર્માણ કરતુ નથી, સાચી વિદ્યા એ છે કે જે મુક્તિ અર્પે છે. આ સિવાય જે કર્મ છે તે માત્ર પરિશ્રમ છે. અને આ સિવાય જે વિદ્યા છે તે માત્ર કારીગરી છે." આ જ વર્તુળની નીચે ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠ લખેલું છે. તેની બંને બાજુઓમાં જ્ઞાનના પ્રતિક સમી બે દીવડીઓ પ્રકાશમાન છે. બીજા વર્તુળમાં જ્ઞાનનું વટવૃક્ષ ભાસે છે. જેના નીચે કમળ આકારની આકૃતિમાં ગુજરાતીમાં અમદાવાદ લખેલું છે. અમદાવાદ શબ્દની બરાબર ઉપર અર્ધ વર્તુળ આકારે અરબી ભાષામાં હદીસનું અવતરણ આપવામાં આવ્યું છે. હદીસ એટલે મહમદ સાહેબે જે કહ્યું, કર્યું તેની તેમના અનુયાયીઓએ લીધેલ નોંધ. આવી નોધોના સંગ્રહને હદીસ કહે છે. ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોમાં મુકાયેલી તિરમીઝી શરીફ હદીસની રિવાયત (સુવાક્ય-અવતરણ) આ પ્રમાણે છે. "અલ હિકમતો ઝાલ્લ્તૂલ મોમીન ફહૈસો વજ્દહા અહક્કો બીહા" અર્થાત "હિકમત( જ્ઞાન )મુસ્લિમોની ગૂમ થયેલી ચીજ છે.જ્યાંથી તે મળી આવે ત્યાંથી તેને મેળવી લેવાનો તેમને અધિકાર છે"

આવી જ અન્ય એક હદીસ પણ છે.જેમાં કહ્યું છે, "જ્ઞાન મેળવવા માટે ચીન જવું પડે તો પણ જવું જોઈએ" જ્ઞાન અંગેનો મહંમદ સાહેબનો એક પ્રસંગ પણ હદીસમાં નોંધાયેલો છે. જંગે બદ્રમાં પકડાયેલા કેદીઓને શી સજા કરવી, એ અંગે બધા વિચારી રહ્યા હતા. કોઈકે એ અંગે હઝરત મહંમદ પયગમ્બર સાહેબને પૂછ્યું, "યુધ્ધમાં પકડાયેલા કેદીઓને આપણે શી સજા કરીશું.?" આપે ફરમાવ્યું, "દરેક કેદી દસ દસ અભણોને લખતા વાંચતા શીખવાડે, એ જ તેમની સજા છે દંડ છે." મહંમદ સાહેબ ઉપર ઉતરેલી સૌ પ્રથમ વહી અર્થાત ઈશ્વરી આદેશનો પ્રથમ શબ્દ હતો "ઇકરાહ" અર્થાત પઢ, વાંચ. ટુંકમાં ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોમાં મુકવામાં આવેલ તિરમીઝી શરીફની હદીસનું અવતરણ જ્ઞાન માટેની ઇસ્લામની તત્પરતા, સજાગતા વ્યક્ત કરે છે.

જો કે ગૂજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોમાં મુકાયેલું તિરમીઝી શરીફ હદીસનું ઉપરોક્ત અવતરણ ગાંધીજીને કોણે સૂચવ્યું હતું, તે અંગે ઇતિહાસમાં કોઈ આધાર સાંપડતા નથી. પણ એક ઇતિહાસના અભ્યાસુ તરીકે અનુમાન કરી શકાય. એ યુગમાં ગાંધીજીની નજીક ઇસ્લામના જ્ઞાતા એક માત્ર ઈમામ બાવઝીર સાહેબ હતા. ગાંધીજી ૧૯૧૫માં ભારતમાં આવ્યા ત્યારે તેમની સાથે દક્ષિણ આફ્રિકાથી ઈમામ બાવઝીર સાહેબ પણ પત્ની અને બે દીકરીઓ સાથે અમદાવાદ આવ્યા હતા. ગાંધીજીએ સાબરમતી આશ્રમ સ્થાપ્યો. તેમાં જ ઈમામસાહેબે પોતાનું મકાન બાંધ્યું હતું. જે પછી "ઈમામ મંઝિલ" કહેવાયું. આજીવન તેઓ તેમાં રહ્યા. એમની પુત્રી અમીનાનાં લગ્ન ધંધુકાના વતની ગુલામરસૂલ કુરેશી સાથે નક્કી થયાં, ત્યારે તેની કંકોતરી ગાંધીજીએ પોતાના નામે લખી હતી. આશ્રમની મિલકતના પ્રથમ ટ્રસ્ટીઓમાં એક ઇમામ સાહેબ હતા. આજે આશ્રમના "સુરક્ષા અને સ્મારક ટ્રસ્ટ" ના પ્રમુખ ટ્રસ્ટી એમના દૌહિત્ર મા. શ્રી હમીદભાઈ કુરેશી છે. બાવઝીર સાહેબ પેશ ઈમામ હતા. અર્થાત મસ્જીતમાં નમાઝ પઢાવવાનું કાર્ય કરતા હતા. ઇસ્લામના જ્ઞાતા અને પાંચ વક્તના નમાઝી હતા. કુરાને શરીફ અને હદીસનું તેમને ઊંડું જ્ઞાન હતું. સંભવ છે ઈમામ સાહેબે ગાંધીજીને હદીસનું આ અવતરણ ગુજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠના લોગોમાં મુકવાનું સુચન કર્યું હોય. અથવા ખુદ ગાંધીજીએ તેમની પાસે આવું અવતરણ મુકવાની વાત કરી હોય અને તેના સંદર્ભે ઈમામ સાહબે તેમને હદીસનું આ અવતરણ સૂચવ્યું હોય. મારી આ અવધારણાથી સાબરમતી સુરક્ષા અને સ્મારક ટ્રસ્ટ, અમદાવાદના ટ્રસ્ટીઓ મા. શ્રી અમૃતલાલ મોદી અને મા. શ્રી હમીદભાઈ કુરેશી પણ સંમત થાય છે.
