On consolidating pages[edit]

Hello Maxim. Tangental to our discussion about consolidating the vicariate/exarchate pages, I wonder: do you know how to fold one article into another? I ask regarding a different article: there have been two entries for St Paraskevi, which I recently consolidated together. I turned the duplicate article into a redirect, but it stays as a separate article on the system. Is that the way things must be, or is there a way of getting rid of it?

(We wouldn't want to do so with the exarchate/vicariate issue, if we go that way; this is as I say a tangent).

You know, I've never actually tried to delete something. I have a tab for moving things, but not for deleting them. I think deletion has to go through one of the processes specified on Wikipedia:Guide_to_deletion. But, from what I can gather, I think it's quite normal for a duplicate article just to be left as a redirect. Maxim662 15:14, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merging Vicariate article into Exarchate article[edit]

Maxim, I've made the merge discussed on the talk page of the vicariate article. Have a look at the new Exarchate article, which contains the vicariate text, as well as a new section on the history of the Exarchate. Does this look right? If so, we can probably go ahead and convert the standalone vicariate text into a blank redirect to the Exarchate article. —Antonios Aigyptostalk 18:18, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good to me! I modified slightly the headings, and then realised it looked better the way it was before. I think it would be good if, over the next while, the historical section were expanded a little, and a subsection added on the breakdown of the Exarchate on the Continent; that will offset the slight lop-sidedness of the article at present.

Orthodox Church and NPOV[edit]

Hi, Maxim662. If the article about the Orthodox Church is given the longer title 'Eastern Orthodox Church' only because of NPOV complaints from others, I believe WP:NCON gives it the right to use the shorter and easier to link name (i.e. Orthodox Church) for more details, please see my comment bellow your vote at: Talk:Roman Catholic Church. Best Wishes. --Leinad ¬ »saudações! 16:24, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note on adding full Eastern Orthodox Project to your watchlist[edit]

This is a note for members of the Eastern Orthodox Project: Since the project's main page has been converted to a portal-style box format, each of the boxes is actually its own page (you can see the page outside its box by clicking the 'Edit' link on any often the section boxes on the project page, which takes you to the edit page for its contents). Because of this, updates to individual box contents will not necessarily show up on editors' watchlists, if you've only got the main project page watched.

In order to keep up to date with all updates to the Project and its pages, I'd recommend adding each subpage to your watchlists. These are:

If you add all of the above pages to your watchlist, you should be informed whenever any part of the WikiProject Eastern Christianity is edited/updated. To discuss this, please see the relavent section of the Project's talk page. —Antonios Aigyptostalk 09:23, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use image in user namespace[edit]

Hello! You have used a fair use image in your user namespace (User:Maxim662). Criterion 9 of the Wikipedia:Fair use criteria states that "Fair use images may be used only in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are not covered under the fair use doctrine." I have removed it on these grounds. Sincerely, --Oden 17:58, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How can a picture which is more than half a century old and in public domain be copyright? In future please inform me rather than unilaterally deleting items from my user page. Maxim662 08:47, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Copyright in most jurisdictions lasts for the life of the author plus some number of years (70 in the US, for instance, which applies to Wikipedia, since it is hosted in the US). Nothing is in the public domain unless either explicitly released to the public domain by its author or it is released by its copyright expiring.
Well that's okay then. The picture was taken in 1931.
Also, whoever you are, please don't delete comments left here by others.Maxim662 00:18, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man can you help out on the icon talkpage? LoveMonkey 02:30, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Maxim662. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. The image (Image:Mikhailtal.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Maxim662. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. All mainspace instances of this image will not be affected Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
