Welcome to Wikipedia. It's good to have another well-trained logician improving our articles. There is a lot of work still to be done here, as you can certainly see. The Mathematics WikiProject has many other interested editors, including many with education in advanced mathematics and a few logicians. The Math project also has a list of resources that may be helpful to new editors.
Regarding your edit to Church-Turing thesis, I agree that that section was poorly written. One thing that I have found amazing is the wide variety of viewpoints about computability that exist in the "real world". I have found that giving a good explanation on the talk page, like you did today, usually helps explain what the problem is.
