Disambiguation link notification for September 30[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Field hockey at the 2022 Asian Games – Women's tournament, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Navneet Kaur. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:05, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter[edit]

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. "Ranks and decorations" edit conflict in Sam Manekshaw webpage[edit]

Hello User:Matarisvan It has been observed that you have spent considerable time editing the Wikipedia webpage on Sam Manekshaw. In particular, you have chosen to remove the "Dates of Rank" and "Awards and decorations" subsection from the webpage. Kindly remember, the subject person is from the military, thus making the promotions he received and the awards he was conferred upon a part of his history, in a professional context.

For reference, look up to the Wikipedia pages of other military officer, particularly field marshals - like K.M. Cariappa, Sarath Fonseka, Ayub Khan, etc...This is a public webpage, and both his ranks and decorations are public attations to his prowess as a military officer. Do not make edits just because you like to.

Yours sincerely. Silver Pavilion (talk) 13:54, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary sanctions alert[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Disruptive editing[edit]

Don't call vandalism a "vandalism". You are violating WP:NPA.

You need to stop edit warring at J. Sai Deepak. Whitewashing will not work. Abhishek0831996 (talk) 09:54, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

February 2024[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on J. Sai Deepak. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 09:14, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it was not my intention to engage in edit warring, but the constant vandalism by the user @Abhishek0831996 forced me to do so. I have asked for a third opinion at Wikipedia:Third opinion, but haven't received one yet. Matarisvan (talk) 09:57, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also see you were previously warned for edit warring a little over a week ago. Please stop. CNMall41 (talk) 20:43, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This comment is a little concerning. As you stated you do not wish to discuss with me I would instead suggest you take it up at ANI if you feel I am out of line. You started a RfC to get consensus and once that is complete we will hopefully have it. Until then, the WP:ONUS is still on you. --CNMall41 (talk) 20:44, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matarisvan, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Wikipedia:Peer review/Fountain Fire/archive1 for PR points in the WikiCup, but you do not seem to have conducted your review yet. As per Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring#Peer reviews, you may claim points when your review is finished. If you haven't completed your review by 27 February, unfortunately this would not be eligible for points. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:24, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will post my comments there soon. My apologies for the hastiness in updating the submissions before getting the PR done. Matarisvan (talk) 04:29, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2024 March newsletter[edit]

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. April 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm MuffinHunter0. I noticed that you recently removed content from Nirbhay without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hi, I had made some grammatical edits but there was an edit conflict as someone had made changes to the article before I could publish. I copied my text and put it into the text box, but because I was editing on a mobile device, only a few lines of my text got copied. I hit publish before reviewing as I thought all the text had been pasted, but the mobile clipboard could hold only a few lines. I will be sure to not try to resolve edit conflicts on mobile devices from now on, thank you. Matarisvan (talk) 18:41, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good! Guess my warning was a mistake. Please continue improving the quality of the page. Muffin(Spreading Democracy, one edit at a time) 18:51, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
