Or rather, lack of it. Had you stated when you edited Leicester Lightning something like its name changed from Lemmings to Lightning in (whatever) year, it wouldn't have been reverted. Sometimes when on vandal patrol we get into these situations, but usually no harm is done because they are reverted by the original contributor -- and explained -- as happened in this case. Cheers. Mid-major discussion

Mid-major

I had no idea the WAC was a major conference, but the MWC was a mid-major. I've tried reasoning with this fellow here, but have since given up and moved all the non-BCS conferences that met his asinine, undeterminable definitions into the "Major" category, only to have him move several (but not other comparable conferences), including the MWC, back to mid-major. He's also received numerous notes and warnings for his editorial antics and at times, vandalism. Not to mention he's very poor at picking up on sarcasm ;)

2004 National Invitation Tournament

Regarding the reasoning given for your revision to my edit in said article...

"While the Milwaukee usage is correct CURRENTLY, at the time, the team was commonly referred to as UW-Milwaukee... there pages refer to schools as they were called at the time (i.e.Texas Western/UTEP)"

...I'm afraid you are mistaken. Milwaukee started using only Milwaukee (or the abbreviation UWM) to refer to all their athletics teams around 1999. This included not only all team uniforms stating ONLY "MILWAUKEE" on them, but also all media guide references, press releases, etc. The school remained UW-Milwaukee, but its teams would now be known as the Milwaukee or UWM Panthers for all athletics references. Also, your comparison to a school that changed its institution's name shows a lack of understanding of this issue, as UWM did not change their school name, but only decided to drop the state university part of the name for athletics purposes, ala Charlotte, Chattanooga, etc. Those schools also did NOT change their names, yet even past references to their teams are now changed in most articles to reflect this. But please don't take my word for it, see for yourself. As previously stated, this "re-branding" by Milwaukee was done athletic department-wide, sometime around 1999, to coincide with the release of the university's new athletics logo, which minimized the words "University of Wisconsin" from the logo as much as possible. As long as the WP standard of using a school's unique, chosen athletics brand is applied to other school's in the same position as Milwaukee (Charlotte, Chattanooga, etc. etc. etc.) then all athletics references from at least after the year this change occurred should stand. I appreciate your understanding in this matter, and would be happy to further elaborate or point to specific sources if you need more assistance. Hey. There's no need to get quite so testy with your edit summaries like this. Instead, if it's going to take three or four days to get things like that in order, you might want to consider building in a sandbox page in your user area first. CVAC / Conference Carolinas

While I agree that moving the CVAC page would be best, someone has already put up a Conference Carolinas page. And yes, the conference does still show as the CVAC, however that appears to be due to lackadaisical marketing rather than a lack of name change.

As per this conference press release, the name changed as of June 1st.

World Series championship templates

I was looking at one of the templates you created, Template:1977 New York Yankees, and I noticed that you list 20 players on that team. baseball-reference.com lists 38 players from that team. Is there a standard for inclusion/omission from these templates? Thanks. --rogerd 13:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

My sense from what I've done and other from the Baseball Wikiproject that have worked on the template have been to only put players that either played in that particular World Series or played a major part in the season but for whatever reasons didn't play in the World Series. For example, I put Rawly Eastwick on the 1976 Reds template because although he didn't play in the WS, he played a big part in the season an likely didn't play due to the fact that the Reds had a relatively easy 4-game sweep of the Yanks. If you feel that certain players are omitted, please add them, but I wouldn't be in favor of putting all of the players who played that whole year on the template because adding players who were traded away, released, or September call-ups to the template would be kind of an information overload. Well, I was thinking of adding Fran Healy. He was a backup catcher who was on the team the whole season, played in 26 games, and got a ring, but I am having a hard time finding his uniform number. baseball-reference.com doesn't seem to have uniform numbers, do you know of a source for historical uniform numbers of lesser known players? --rogerd 03:04, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Template:Super Bowl XXVI

From what I gathered at Databasefootball.com, the following players played for the Redskins during the 1991 NFL season: John Brandes, Travis Curtis, Terry Hoage, Jimmie Johnson, Joe Johnson, Markus Koch, Ed Simmons, Ralph Tamm, and Clarence Vaughn. But I dont know if any of them played in the Super Bowl or the numbers they had. Is there a site or something your using? Also, I could not find any info on Ed Williams, are you sure he was on the team? Klecko

He still earned a ring though, as did all the players. Injured reserve players are still members of the team and should definitely be on these templates. Well there's a big difference between a minor leaguer that saw minimal action in the bigs and wasn't on the postseason roster, and a player like Klecko that was an active roster player until going on IR. Not to mention, he did have a number, just like everyone else on IR, so that's not an issue. At the very least, there should be a section before the main roster on the template that says "Reserve lists." What if a star player, a Peyton Manning, tore his ACL in the AFC championship and his team advanced? He'd be on IR for the Super Bowl, but he'd be on the sideline, he'd get a ring and he'd be a Super Bowl champion.►Chris Nelson^Holla! 04:52, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Northwest Conference

I see you added a table of member teams from the Northwest Conference with school enrollment size. I was wondering where you got the numbers for school size, and whether you are counting undergrad or undergrad and graduate students combined. I think renaming the column to undergrad only would be better becuase undergrad students participate in sports, and as far as I know, grad students do not. Also, according to the Willamette wikipedia page, it has 1810 undergrads, and 659 grad students. I would be in favor of not combining these numbers and just using the 1810 who are eligable to participate. Super Bowl XVIII

I think we should have a standard policy naming injured reserve, practice squad, midseason trades and cuts at the bottom of these templates since you have an official source for such information. This affects two articles Ed Muransky {{Super Bowl XVIII}} and Rod Payne {{Super Bowl XXXV}}. However, it seems there is a problem with your source for XXXV. These are essentially your templates. I realize that there is a much higher redlink percentage for these asterisk type players, but I think they should be officially noted if the info is available. I think it would be consistend with WP to say X source says these players were officially affiliated with the team during the regular season or playoffs and were not on the Super Bowl game day roster. Pre-season cuts are not included in such a list. I think this should be handled on a sport by sport basis. Baseball September callups are a different animal. On WP, we should not be making WP:OR decisions on which players from an official list are important enough. I think we should say these players are footnotes at the bottom. They did not play in the Super Bowl, but were affiliated with the team. I think all footnotes should be added for consistency with WP policy. It is not for any wikipedian to decide who is important. We are researchers for a tertiary resource. You do not have a source that says Phil Simms was more important than the other players not on the gameday roster. Your source lists him as a footnote just like the rest. You are not being true to your source. Your lengthy response is appreciated as this needs to be fleshed out. NFL roster limits have always had odd numbers for the reason that player must vote on controversial stuff I assume. I imagine playoff shares are such an issue. By the way. At one point World Series rosters needed cleaning up because they were going by composite box scores which only show players who appeared in games and not the 25 man roster. In some World Series many 5th starters or middle relievers never appeared in the series and were never included. 1983 Baltimore Orioles' Dennis Martinez comes to mind.
