Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

Thanks, RJFJR. I joined to become more familiar with the mediawiki software, and have auctually created a wiki for a project I'm working on. Guess I should update my user page, huh? --Martinship June 30, 2005 04:11 (UTC)

'Nique[edit]

  • Why did you move this article to 'Nique (disambiguation)? Where it was appears to be the correct place. You should not need a redirect to get to a DAB page. Vegaswikian 21:54, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Where it was does appear to be the correct place. I don't remember moving it or why I moved it, but clearly it should be at 'Nique and the (disambiguation) part of the title is superfluous. --Martinship 22:33, July 18, 2005 (UTC)
      • To fix it now probably means a trip to Wikipedia:Requested moves to request that the move be undone. Since it appears that you did the move, requesting it there should get it undone quickly and without objections. Vegaswikian 23:53, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
        • But it is putting it at 'Nique that causes a redirect to get to the page. When I want a disambiguation, I consistently type (with completion aid) en.wikipedia.org/Article_(disambiguation) Hackwrench 21:41, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I'm confused[edit]

As not to draw more attention to it, I'm posting here: Is what I discovered an actual vulnerability or is it (silently) protected by cascade? I'm not inclined to play around with it just to see. And if I were to be posting about this on an IRC channel, should I msg someone about it or just put my discoveries there in the channel chat? Thanks for your help. --Martinship 07:49, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the confusion. Indeed, the image is cascade-protected. If you were to attempt to upload a new version or edit the description page while the image is on the main page, you would find yourself unable.
If you do discover such a problem, I suggest that you report it at #wikipedia or #wikipedia-en by messaging an active sysop or by simply announcing this to the channel if you're unable to quickly identify an active sysop. —David Levy 10:48, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The CfD[edit]

Yes, that was the result of an automatic insert (error on my part trying to use Twitter.) Thanks for catching it! --Mr. Vernon (talk) 15:23, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's turning ten! Evansville, unite![edit]

Interested in meeting other Evansville area Wikipedians and celebrating Wikipedia's tenth birthday together on January 15th, 2011?

If so, stop by tenwiki:Evansville and add your name to the page. We'll all need to put our heads together to plan this.

Wondering what stalkerly person would find you? I found your name by performing a User-filtered search for pages that link to Evansville, Jasper, Henderson, and Owensboro.

If you get this message too late, there's no need to respond. Bob the Wikipedian (talkcontribs) 21:28, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
