October 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Road to Ruin (John and Beverley Martyn album) has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.myspace.com/beverleymartyn (matching the regex rule \bmyspace\.com).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 18:42, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added such as to the page Nick Drake do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

  1. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Stormbringer! (John Martyn album). Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

  1. Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to John Bundrick. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. I beg your pardon? I suggest that you read the basic guidelines on blocking. My amendments are reasonable.. Who on Earth do you think you are. Honestly! In fact I am merely trying to adjust two links which sit awkwardly on the same line. Markyc1

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Stormbringer! (John Martyn album). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Toddst1 (talk) 12:42, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be having problems adding a link[edit]

I see you keep adding a link to Myspace. I think you need to read up on our policy on external links, specifically, what type of links not to add. It's clear you're trying to contribute constructively but you need to learn a little more rather than persisting in your desire to add that link. Toddst1 (talk) 12:47, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Drake[edit]

You really need to stop adding that information. You have already been blocked for edit warring. You need to read and understand Wiki policy on neutrality and using sources. Several editors have reverted your changes: please take this to the article talk page. freshacconci talktalk 17:23, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note: another Yahoo! Answers question about this matter posted here. I replied there. Alexius08 (talk) 14:10, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(The source of that connection is confidential information) I'm reposting here so I can notify some of the people you were in a revert war with, I see your frustration, but you're going the wrong way about it.

You need a reliable source for the information to be added to the article (that way, we know that what's being added is real, not just something someone's made up) - if you don't have a reliable source, regrettably - you can't add it to the article.

All your edit summaries seemed angry - and this attracted editors attention, along with no reliable sources, people kept reverting, if you have a look at the history of the article - you can see that you keep readding the information.

N.B..

There is nothing remotely like self promotion from me or the subject. HOWEVER their is plenty of it on the page from others!!!! Don't you see!? My sentence is all factual and can be substantiated by if needs be by the record company the autobiography to come out with i think their called Hodder and Staughton, next year, or indeed by John Rabbit Bundrick who plays on the song or by the artist herself. What other way IS there to substantiate this?? FURTHER there are existing entries on the same page with LESS reliable sources! Please get fair and even handed, or you guys are the losers. Markyc1

On the MySpace link you are adding, is it about the subject or about someone related, either directly or indirectly? Also, what specific entries are less reliable? Alexius08 (talk) 10:46, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has a 3 revert rule, don't keep reverting this information, this is why you were blocked and threatened. You might consider discussing the information on people's talk pages, as well as the article's talk page. If you have reliable sources that should help too. RandomTime 12:17, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for my rude comments on the reverts, but I was getting frustrated with the way Markyc1 was inserting self-promoting information for an artist whose work in the area he was promoting had not previously been coroborrated by any other user; the random MySpace page link was just the icing on the cake. Stolengood (talk) 12:38, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It seems as though you are continuing with these edits, please stop. Without discussion, these edits will continue to get reverted. A MySpace page does not count as a reliable source, you stated in your question. Do not give out my personal details outside of wiki or I will take serious action and I mean it.. respect my right to privacy. that you had reliable sources, if you can show them, then perhaps we can work out. Wikipedia:External links states that links to social networking sites could be avoided. You are violating the 3 Revert rule for edit warring, if you continue, you will be blocked however, if you can argue your case rationally, and provide reliable sources, there is no reason why verifiable and notable information cannot be added to the article. RandomTime 16:06, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

YOU GUYS ARE SOMETHING ELSE. I never claimed the myspace was a source. How can I get anywhere with people who cannot retain and process information correctly. Ok then, you tell me what would be a reliable source that someone is making an album... what do I have to get a high court judge to go round to the studio. Fortunately I don't have as much time to spend on this as you do to wreck it. Well done I hope you feel really important and it makes up for the reality of day to day life.
