Welcome!

Hello Marko Petek, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

At Wikipedia, new Users do not automatically receive a welcome; not even a machine-generated welcome. Welcome messages come from other Users. They are personal and genuine. They contain an offer of assistance if such assistance is ever desired.

I suggest to everyone I welcome that they may find some of the following helpful — there’s nothing personal in my suggestion and you may not need any of them:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! Dolphin (t) 06:37, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and signing your messages[edit]

Hi Sprayer faust. Thanks for the kitten.

I notice you are signing your messages by writing your full user name. That is not necessary on Wikipedia. When you finish writing a message on a Talk page, or on a User's Talk page, you type the character called the tilde four times - like this ~~~~. (The tilde is the wriggly line. On my keyboard the tilde key is at the top left and I type it by holding down the Shift key.)

After you have saved your message, instead of seeing the four tildes you will see your full username, the time and date of your message. You can practice it here by typing the four tildes on your Talk page and then hitting Show preview. Regards. Dolphin (t) 21:18, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was using the ~~~~ signing. The absence of the link was due to a preference change. I wanted to change the signature from "Sprayer faust" to "sprayer_faust" and I noticed writing it in the "Signature" box and ticking "Treat as wiki markup" did the trick. I now realize what that tick box does and that it wasn't essential for changing my signature. So I unticked it and now the signature works as expected. Thanks for the advice anyway. :)
