I changed the first paragraph of Liz Shaw (New Zealand) to say "...is a New Zealand student" as a compromise between the original "...is a New Zealand woman mainly known for her self promotion", which is derogatory, and your preferred version of "...is a New Zealand actress". I think student is a neutral term.
