Hi Mad Macs,

You have violated the three-revert rule. Since you're a new user, you deserve an opportunity to self-revert, before being reported. Otherwise, you will be reported and may be blocked from editting Wikipedia. Thanks.Timothy Usher 05:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see comments at Talk:Occidental_College#.22Free_Speech.22. I don't know anything about the subject, but was trying to explain on things might appear. Shenme 06:12, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reported[edit]

Your violation of 3RR has been reported.Timothy Usher 06:49, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like three different anon users to me - pretty typical for articles on colleges. And they've not added information, anymore than did Shenme or myself, but restored it from your deletion.Timothy Usher 07:00, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I believe you, please d o not violate the 3RR again Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. abakharev 07:31, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the autoblocker, so you're clear to edit. El_C 07:54, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Still blocked...

2nd autoblocker removed. Should work fine now. El_C 08:45, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Block[edit]

Hi again. It appears you were made aware of the 3RR policy, so you have been blocked for 24 hours. Also, please use the talk page to discuss your position. Thanks. El_C 10:20, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request[edit]

{{unblock}} I was unaware of the 3RR rule until I was threatened by Timothy Usher. He wrote: "You have violated the three-revert rule. Since you're a new user, you deserve an opportunity to self-revert, before being reported. Otherwise, you will be reported and may be blocked from editting Wikipedia."

To which I responded: "The Occidental page has already been reverted, so there was no need. Additionally, an anonymous user made 3 reverts as well, adding biased information to the page. You should read the talk section of the article before making 3RR accusations. There is a valid reason for removing the "information""

At that point that I went to report whoever had been adding the POV back in.

Then Timothy Usher decided to report me, despite the fact the article had been reverted

The edits had been under discussion in the Talk page for the article. Timothy Usher never participated in this discussion. Furthermore, he appears to be involved with the (mis)information himself, as whenever this has been disputed (which it has several times before) his only response to disagreeing views is: "My real question is, what's your job at Oxy, and how much do they pay you?"

Clearly he is coming from a biased POV and has his own interest in this part of the article. I would appreciate it if you could unblock me as I was unaware at the time of the edits, and do believe I am making a valuable contribution to the article, as I have discussed in the Discussion page. I will leave the page as is for now and participate in further discussion--hopefully Timothy Usher will do the same.

I'm not going to unblock you, but your block will expire soon anyway. Keep in mind that the 3-revert rule says that you should not revert more than 3 times; reverting 3 times is not something we block you for, although reverting is never a good thing.. edit wars should be resolved through discussion. FWIW I do think you have valid points regarding the section you want to remove in the article... but nonetheless, forcing that edit on the encyclopedia without discussing first causes problems. I suggest when your block expires, you try to work towards a consensus on the talk page first. As for Timothy Usher, I believe he never intended to get involved in a content dispute, but rather just noticed your violation of the 3-revert rule and warned you about it. I know this block is aggravating, but don't worry about it: like Timothy said, you're a new user, and we all make mistakes. Sorry about the misunderstanding!
