Shawnee Mission West[edit]

Hi, just wanted to address your concerns about this article. Firstly, no disrespect is intended by the removal of Smith. Obviously it's a sensitive issue but I'm afraid the victims of crimes don't tend to be considered notable as individuals and therefore the edit isn't likely to be reverted. When we talk bout "notability" we mean by the standards of Wikipedia, and obviously as you point out Smith is of note by other measures such as within the immediate community and to her friends. If you feel strongly about the topic and wish to document it further on Wikipedia then there's still plenty of scope for doing so. For example you could expand the article about the Smith case, it only has 13 references as present so it should be relatively easy to improve. There may well also be alternaive ways to add Smith to the Shawnee Mission West article, although she shouldn't be placed in the notable alumni section it may well be possible to document the case as an event in the context of her school and its history (if relevant) and include it in the main text of the article. I hope tho makes things clearer and thanks for taking the time to discuss this issue.--Shakehandsman (talk) 16:20, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
