January 2019[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 04:22, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am new to Wikipedia editing so apologies for my ignorance. I am an editor at the Medical Journal of Australia and have been asked to look into contributing to Wikipedia on behalf of the Journal, hence the choice of username which I thought would be appropriate as it clearly declares any potential conflict of interest. Are contributions on behalf of an established Australian medical journal not permitted? Please could you confirm. Many thanks. MedicalJournalofAustralia (talk) 05:04, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No. Editors must edit as individuals. If you are editing on behalf of some entity, you must declare you conflict of interest and indicate your PAID status. Please read and heed WP:COI and WP:PAID-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 05:52, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thank you. MJA Editor Zoe (talk) 06:27, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit requests[edit]

Since you have a clear conflict of interest with regards to the article The Medical Journal of Australia please avoid making direct edits to the page. Instead, you should follow the process explained at Requested edits, so that other users who do not have a conflict of interest can make changes on your behalf. thank you[edit]

Thank you for this information. I am new to Wikipedia editing, and am learning as I go, but it seems that where there were clear factual/outdated information - that is easily verifiable and not promotional - that is appropriate to make the necessary changes to improve the article. My conflict of interest is clearly declared so readers can make their own assessment. I also posted a comment on the talk page about some detail that I feel should be removed but did not do that myself due to my potential conflict. I would appreciate if you could review that and action if you feel it is appropriate. Thank you. MJA Editor Zoe (talk) 07:49, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, your conflict of interest is not clearly declared. You are still in violation of Wikipedia's Terms of Use. The policy here requires you to either place the appropriate declaration on your userpage - which you have not done - or disclose your COI in every edit summary for edits you make to the affected page(s) - which you have not done. Yunshui  07:59, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies if I have not declared my COI correctly. A I said, I am learning as I go. My understanding was that you had to do AT LEAST one of the 3 things to declare the COI, and I have clearly declared my COI both in my Username and on the Medical Journal of Australia talk page - clearly it was obvious to you as you have commented on it.Thank you for explaining to me, I will know for next time. MJA Editor Zoe (talk) 08:05, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise; you had disclosed on the talkpage, just not in the header at the top; I have moved your disclosure to the correct place, and responded to your edit request there. Yunshui  08:12, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
