Need to stop user temporarilly[edit]

User:Ed_g2s is continuting to remove images while a discussion is congoing about whether these images should be used in these manners. Looking at his talk page, another user is also fedup with his changes and is putting the vandal templates on his page but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Repeated attempts to ask him to stop making changes until the discussion has concluded have failed (See Talk:2006 Colorado Buffaloes football team) and he continues to make changes. I wish to have him warned and stopped to make changes regarding this issue until the discussion is complete (See mediation request: Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-08-01 Fair Use Images on Sports Page - College Football Specific), how do I do this? He is also an admin, and I further think this is a poor attitude and example for an admin to set. Is this enough grounds to complain about his admin status, since he isn't really abusing his admin powers? Any help and direction would be appreciated. --MECU≈talk 14:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe we have and are using them inline with policy, you do not. We aren't getting anywhere in discussing this, so I reverted to a mediator to help in resolving the issue. I am merely asking you to STOP making these types of changes until the issue is solved. It is by no means a validation on your part that you agree with us or agree that our side may "win", just an awknowledgement that you agree that there is an issue. I am not going to put up any images until it is resolved, at least you should stop removing images until it is resolved. If you'd look at the history of all pages, I haven't restored any image you removed (except the Buffalo picture perhaps, but that's free so it doesn't count) ever. --MECU≈talk 15:02, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed policy clarification with respect to logos[edit]

Hi Mecu, I think by now you have seen my post at the RfC, but I wanted to respond to you directly. My thought is that Ed was wrong on this issue, and that he did break policy. However, I wouldn't call for desysopping of an admin based upon one bad act. Also, as a practical matter, it is clear that a lot of people think he actually behaved appropriately. That is very disapointing to me, but it is what it is and it shows that we are a long way away from support for desysopping. Desysopping is a very rare event, by the way. I don't know the exact number of people that have been desysopped, but it is only a handful - less than 10 I think. There are some proposals along the lines of making "admin recall" a little easier, please see Category:Administrators_open_to_recall, for instance. Johntex\^talk 23:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ohio State Buckeyes football 2006 team[edit]

Thanx for the suggestion--I've been looking just for such help. (You can see my interim compromise in the article). Thanx also for the comments regarding the article. Footnoting is slow work, esp. when the wiki servers go south for a day (played havoc with two other articles I'm deep into). Ultimately the "history" section will probably be a summary of a main article on Buckeye football history--it's a lot of work too and I've been procrastinating about tackling it, no pun intended.--Buckboard 20:23, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio[edit]

You have tagged my article Zadarfest as a copyright violation. You have cited [1] as the source of the text. Meanwhile, this page specifically says, "This entry is from Wikipedia, the leading user-contributed encyclopedia". answers.com mirrors all of Wikipedia as far as I know, so the Wikipedia articles are always the originals.

Mid-Major Programs[edit]

I've been working on creating pages for Division I-A mid-majors recently because, well, they're easy. Most major programs without their own dedicated pages have a lot of info on their schools athletics pages, so I've been backing off on those. My personal vision is to create a page for each of the 119 I-A programs (hopefully not on my own, of course), then improve them over time. I don't think I've made any pages for Division I-AA teams yet, but I may have gotten a little crazy the other day. Anyways, I appreciate your input.Football79 01:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition of the Nebraska Logo on Bob Devaney was not in compliance with the Fair Use guideline at Wikipedia.
