Hi! Thank you for your contributions to the article on Enrico Coleman. A couple of things:

• would you please in future make quite sure that you do not delete properly referenced material from any article without prior discussion on the talk-page? The biography you have copy-pasted into the article, while useful in some ways, is both incomplete and inaccurate, and specifically does not include the information on Coleman's parents that you deleted.
• would you please make sure you do not delete properly formatted and reliable references from any article without prior discussion?
• when adding to an article, would you please use the referencing system already in place there? Changing the referencing system without prior discussion is regarded as poor manners.

Nice work on creating all those African films. Please can you ensure that you add the three main categories (Year, Country and Language) at the bottom of each article, per WP:FILMCAT. I know the infobox can trasclude them, but they should also be added into the body of the article. There is also the {{Africa-film-stub}} tag too. Thanks again! I would not that the articles were all kept - after significant research and editing to find additional sources. If you are being honest about not creating these automatically, then spend the 5 min to validate each film is actually notable and add some additional sourcing. Africa through a Lens

Hi Casanova. Great that you're interested in those images. There are a few things I can suggest at this stage.

The first thing is about licensing. These images are not really public domain. That tag is incorrect in most cases. Most of the images are from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Some are by living photographers. Because these photographers were carying out official work for the British government they are Crown Copyright. There are two ways to deal with this.

One is to just use the {{Flickr-no known copyright restrictions}} tag. This lets people know the the images are from Flickr Commons and their use on Wiki Commons is legitimate. You could also use the Open Government Licence {{OGL}} tag to define their exact copyright status. I'm quite happy to release these images under the Open Government Licence (equivalent to CC-BY).

The second thing is to try and improve the relationship between the original object and the scanned image. This might not seem very important but without the original archival context, the image is much less useful for research.

We are using the {{TNA-image}} tag to make links between our catalogue and images on Commons. (I hope in time, users will be able to move directly from our Catalogue to Commons to see the images.)

In order to make this work, the link to Flickr needs to be the link directly to the image itself, not the set it is in. (This also lets us update the metadata on Commons if Africa Through a Lens users add more accurate descriptions to the image on Flickr - and vice versa, potentially).

Then the {{TNA-image}} tag is given the catalogue reference from the Flickr image - e.g. {{TNA-image|CO1069/20}}. We're still working on this system but it's a good start.

I'd really like to have another info box explaining the Africa Through a Lens project (more information at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/africa) and how we're trying to gather more information about the images but maybe that isn't necessary.

Anyway, thank you again for getting involved with these images. Let me know if I've explained any of this badly. I'm working on an upload myself and using [[2]] as a test of what the files should look like, if that's helpful and you can see the Flickr tag in use at [[3]].

(Some of those tags are displaying strangely here on Wikipedia but if you look at them as I've typed them in edit mode you should get the idea. Sorry, my Wiki markup is a little rough round the edges.)

I'm sorry Casanova, you'll have to revert that edit to TNA-image. That OTRS ticket only covers the Africa Through a Lens material. We can't have something where every time anybody gives an image one of our catalogue references, it appears to have its copyright status covered by that ticket. Could you not attach it to the WikiAfrica/TNA template you created instead? That way it will only cover the Flickr images you have uploaded. Would that be okay?
