Copyright problems half solved

I've fixed the copyright and fair use rationale tags on the covers for Image:Treehousetalk.jpg‎ and Image:Minutia EP.jpg‎. However, the new problem is that unless 504plan warrants having an article and the images are used in the article, the images cannot be allowed to stay on Wikipedia. Because they are not used in an article, they are "orphaned" non-free images and will be deleted in 7 days. —C.Fred (talk) 15:46, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

The 504plan image cannot be used

Images on Myspace are implicitly under copyright unless the band licenses them otherwise. Accordingly, Image:504plan.jpg cannot be used on Wikipedia. If a free image—e.g., a picture taken by a fan, where the fan licenses the image under Creative Commons or GFDL—can be found, that can be used in article. However, non-free images cannot be used in situations like that, where a free alternative is available. —C.Fred (talk) 15:59, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

5o4plan : Fixed?

The use of album covers should be permitted within the article. The band photo should be permitted because of permission from the band or someone representing the band. As for notability, in the "Criteria for musicians and ensembles" numbers 5 and 6 are of use here. The band has released two albums on an indie label, and the band contains four members who were once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable...

Permission is not a valid reason to use the image. It either has to be a free image, where it can be used regardless of permission, or it has to be used within the restrictions on non-free images. The way to build a case for the performance image is that the group has broken up, so it will be extremely unlikely to get a picture of them performing again. —C.Fred (talk) 23:45, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
