December 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:134.163.255.25, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please do not delete messages from another user's talk page, even an anonymous user. This is especially true of the {{SharedIP}} template, which provides information about the status of the IP. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 04:22, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IP talkpage header[edit]

I reverted your blanking of the talkpage header because it is Wikipedia policy to at preserve the talkpage headers for shared IPs. YYou may not remove the talkpage header, and you may not refactor other peoples' comments: see WP:UP#OWN and WP:BLANKING. I am acting as a Wikipedia administrator keeping the talk page in order: your message "What are your motives in attempting to "moderate" the Shell IP Discussion page?" with the edit "summary "possible defamation" is both entirely incorrect and an assumption of bad faith. As for "political interest against Shell", well, that's a remarkable leap. Please review Wikipedia's policies on assumption of good faith. Acroterion (talk) 04:29, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you or somebody editing through the IP has replied to C.Fred. We appreciate your effort to comply with Wikipedia policies and editing practices, and hope that you understand that shared IP pages accumulate a lot of warnings, which, if you check the edit histories, tend to be justified. Take a look at some shared IPs from schools - they can accumulate a remarkable number of warnings. It helps Wikipedia track problems and to deal with disruptive editing. Cooperation is the cornerstone of Wikipedia, and we hope that you understand that a cooperative and conciliatory attitude on the part of all editors helps everybody to improve the encyclopedia. Please be as specific as you wish to be about concerns in the actual article, and please remember that we strive for a neutral tone. Acroterion (talk) 04:47, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page comments[edit]

Greetings -- I moved your comment on the talk page for Royal Dutch Shell to the bottom (all new comments on all talk pages go on the bottom, or we won't see them -- it's a convention here). For what it's worth I agree with you that there are bias problems. For example, under "health and safety" the article should at least address the overall H&S culture at Shell, not just mention a single problem in one place. Antandrus (talk) 04:37, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, one other thing -- please assume good faith (a most important policy on Wikipedia, that makes it possible for thousands of very different people to write this thing). Acroterion has no ulterior motive, nor is he trying to "moderate" the Shell IP page; he's just restoring the header in accordance with policy. See also the advice above from C.Fred; you are free to remove individual warnings, and if there is anything problematic you may contact OTRS. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 04:41, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You[edit]

Thank you, yes, I understand after reviewing how wikipedia works. I also see that you were just doing your administrator duties. You have a great page going here. I've seen problems on other sights involving interests, and negative writing, but I can see that is not the case here, I'm sure you understand :) Everything on this end is done in good intentions, as I'm sure yours is also.
