There is no advertising or promotion involved. The site is free to anyone to look at and simply shows the outdoor sculpture of Perth.Law2giver (talk) 08:11, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That seems overly specialized for such general articles like sculpture, and adding the same website to multiple articles to which it is not all that relevant may well be seen as linkspam - promotion of the website. Huon (talk) 10:15, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Literature[edit]

Hell there is a lot more to literature in WA - and no one has really done much about the subject or even started an article for the subject. .

  • I dont think Perth article is the location for it
  • If you do add something - you need to either link the names of the authors/book titles or with refs
  • The average punter would be blissfully unawares of anything to do with local literature - a separate very thorough article is needed...It is a very potential WP:OR and WP:POV area.

I have reverted my revert - but still think its in the wrong place and wrong set of authors... sats 23:43, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Talk pages[edit]

Please...

If you have a problem with another editor. You need to (a) WP:AGF (b) Place the talk item at the bottom of the page like everyone else (c) learn to sign WP:SIGN (d) read the message on your talk page (e) be very carefuly about challenging someone elses edits like that - the tone is suggesting that I dont know anything about the subject - that can be considered to be combatitive and doesnt help communication.

As I have said above the material is in the wrong place. However if you care keen to add material about West Australian literature, look at other Australian states or cities and see how they work.

Adding material like you have done at Perth requires WP:CITES or WP:LINKS - the lack of either can make a non-conversant with the subject as being WP:OR.

Take care. sats 23:52, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Satu These are no different from the brief mentions of other areas under the culture heading, and need to get started. I am perfectly willing for others to add more. As it stood it sounded like Perth was illiterate.

Also the sculpture link is non-commercial and not for gain. I have had that discussion before on Wikipedia. Law2giver.

Literature[edit]

More I think about it - Perth is not the place for what you have added - it (Perth) is far too big an article and:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Writers_from_Western_Australia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_literature

with Tasmania as the only state that anyone has dared venture...

There is no easy answer - but to put

A Faithful Picture edited by Peter Cowan gives a good idea of the early days of the Swan River Colony. An early novel, Moondyne, set in the Colony, was written by a former Fenian convict, John Boyle O'Reilly, who escaped to Boston from Fremantle and became a journalist and later one of JFK's favourite poets. The premier coming of age novel is The Merry-go-round in the Sea written by Randolph Stow. Kings in Grass Castles by Mary Durack describes a pioneer cattle family moving into The Kimberley.

has not really anything to do with Perth at all. sats 00:12, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The sculpture site I have included contains considerably more sculptures than Perth Public Art, and they are presented in individual access or slideshow format Law2giver (talk) 13:16, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Internal links see always preferred to external links, as we want to share free information. Not just free to view, but free to re-use. If that site is yours, would you consider uploading your photos to wikipedia, with the appropriate licensing? We are not here to help drive traffic to external sites. Just because Perth maybe a setting, or part setting, or the location of the birthplace of an author - does not make a section in the article about literature.

Look for and read Literature in Tasmania... sats 11:58, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also WP:TALKNEW. (eg your edit with no new section, my insertion of a section break - feel free to change my heading to something sensible) Mitch Ames (talk) 14:19, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

answer[edit]

  • (1) the answer is given above by the pope
  • (2) your adding an external link, when it has removed an internal link, is a bad edit.
  • (3) the content of the wikipedia list linked to, or the content of an external link is irrelevent. sats 13:48, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re (3) Rather inwardly focused?Law2giver (talk) 03:40, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you are uncertain about the processes as explained, try reading comments by The Pope in some recent edits [1] - he has some very good views on what wikipedia is WP:ABOUT - you seem to be developing into a WP:SPA - wikipedia is not designed to be a massive link farm to external links sats 03:45, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Page on the 2019 Military Games in Wuhan[edit]

There seem to be serious discrepancies between the countries participating and also the medal tallies depending on whether you select the mail link or the specific Wuhan link. Eg. China medals 239 or 739, US 8 or 80. Australia a participant or not.Law2giver (talk) 00:53, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
