Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Martyn Burke has been reverted.
Your edit here to Martyn Burke was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.underfirejournalistsincombat.webs.com) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Hello, Lauradawn58. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Martyn Burke, please read our plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

Everyone must follow our conflict of interest (COI) and neutral point of view policies. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to accidentally add overly-flattering or overly-disparaging content. If you have a close connection to a subject, you are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject. But you must make sure that your edits are verified by reliable sources and are unbiased.

Here's a partial summary of our plain and simple conflict of interest guide:

  • Be transparent about your conflict of interest.
  • Do not edit articles about yourself, your business, or your competitors.
  • Post suggestions and sources on the article's talk page, or create a draft in your user space.
  • Your role is to summarize, inform and reference, not promote, whitewash, or sell.
  • If writing a draft, write without bias, as if you don't work for the company or personally know the subject.
  • Get us to review your draft.
  • Work with us and we'll work with you.

Please read the whole guide. Please see also Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:Autobiography.

Thank you. -- Trevj (talk) 03:28, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Martyn Burke[edit]

Hi. I received your email about the COI regarding Martyn Burke (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). My email reply of 11 March bounced (550 IP 72.18.206.198 is blocked by EarthLink. Go to http://earthlink.net/block for details, so I'm copying it below.

Hi Laura

Thanks for your email and apologies for my late reply. For info, I normally prefer to conduct such discussions on Wikipedia talk pages, in the interests of transparency.

The COI notification wasn't actually in relation to any specific inclusion, just a general note because it may not be obvious to those who missed the note in your edit summaries. In my opinion, the safest thing would be to include a brief statement of declaration on the talk page of the article about your husband. He could even request that others edit the article by dropping a note there himself.

I hope that makes sense.

Kind regards

Trevor

Hi Laura. Thanks for your email but it's generally more helpful to host conversations on talk pages here. If you have a look at commons:Commons:Licensing, there is a process which can be followed for uploading photos to which you hold the licence. Failing that, I suggest contacting the deleting administrator. I hope this helps. Thanks. -- Trevj (talk) 23:04, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Martyn Burke in New Zealand - 2016.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Martyn Burke in New Zealand - 2016.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 11:09, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
