Copyright problem: Sweetheart Cup Company[edit]

I'm afraid that the answers page is not compatibly licensed. Few answers pages are. This particular one notes that it is drawn from "Gale Directory of Company Histories. International Directory of Company Histories. Copyright © 2006 by The Gale Group, Inc. All rights reserved." Unless an Answers page specifically says it is compatibly licensed, we are not able to assume it is. If we are to retain the work, the article will need to be rewritten in the temporary space without any of their content. --Moonriddengirl ^(talk) 00:03, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Answers.com (http://wiki.answers.com/about/legal_notices.html#3) says this: "Additionally, notwithstanding anything set forth in this Section 3 of the TOU, please note that all Wikipedia content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License (see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ for details)."

http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ says this: You are free:

   to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
   to Remix — to adapt the work
   to make commercial use of the work

Under the following conditions:

   Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
   Share Alike — If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one.

From this I would conclude that all I need to do is to add attribution for Gale Directory of Company Histories. International Directory of Company Histories. Las1385 (talk)

No, I'm afraid you've misunderstood. :/ That doesn't mean that you can copy their content to Wikipedia, it means that content they copy from Wikipedia (which they often do) is licensed that way. Content from other sources is not. (To give you a graphic illustration, see [1]; it offers "answers" from three sources. Wikipedia is the last.
