Messages from Bo[edit]

Welcome to the Wikipedia. I hope you hang around for a while. You've shown great 'wikipedian' qualities already: Frist day on the job and several improvements posted already!. Bo 14:25, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, this place is actually kind of fun. LarryQ 14:51, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad to see someone doing the 'minor pols', and you're covering multiple states! Your efforts are noticed...(even if belatedly). Bo 18:24, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! LarryQ!

Keep up the good work. Don't get burned out. You are truly helping build an encyclopedia! Bo 13:42, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I were as steady and reliable as you and your efforts are - Thanks for the improvements you are making. Bo 11:01, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your work is a great addition to the wikipedia. Don't let the 'maintenance work' get you down. Thanks again. Bo 14:04, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see you able to continue with 'new stuff'. Thanks for your help on the Wiki!. Bo 20:59, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Larry, I'm still here and thanks for the encouraging word. I've done a bit on the 13 colonies / colonial America, but have been busy with 'real world events'. Maybe as things 'calm down' I'll be back in the thick of it. You've done a great job of staying focused and active. Keep on Keeping On! Bo 19:03, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant Bioguide references[edit]

I notice that ou have been adding the Bioguide template to a lot of article that already listed the bioguide in the References section. There is no need to list it twice. olderwiser 19:09, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Bioguide template is pretty old, from before sourcing and referencing became more obligatory and before it was possible to create parameterized templates. It was an attempt to acknowledge the source before referencing standards became more robust. The ConBio template is much newer, and better, IMO, as it allows you to link to the specific entry in the bioguide. I don't think it is necessary to have both in an article. olderwiser 19:19, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I shall cease adding it to articles and stick with what I was doing in the first place. I guess I should go back and remove those redundant tags eventually now... LarryQ 19:21, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies[edit]

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 21:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing this out. I have been aware of this option but have been pretty happy with my contributions so far as I am helping to make a better encyclopedia and also enjoying myself. I probably will start help with assessing biographies soon. Give me a little time to research it and decide how to proceed. I plan on still doing what I am now and adding this as an additional occassional task. LarryQ 14:36, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Julius Hotchkiss[edit]

Interesting article on Julius Hotchkiss. I see you are interested in Congress articles - was this randomly chosen, or are you from the Waterbury area? Just curious, I know one of the main parks in Prospect, Connecticut is Hotchkiss Field. I am sure it is at least the same family, I was wondering if you have any other sources related to him/this inquiry. Thanks. — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 01:27, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I realized that in my basement was the book ("View from the Top") and it has a copy of the same photo, same guy. I'll flesh it out a bit - he's not a Waterbury native, but from a suburb. — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 01:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress, Hotchkiss was born in Waterbury and was later the Mayor of the city. No, I am not in the Waterbury area. I am in Michigan and working through the missing Congressional article list. LarryQ 01:55, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your AfD[edit]

Ok, currently, Mike Hominik has a WP:PROD on it. When that happens, the page does not go on WP:AfD. The tag stays there for five days. If no one removes the tag, then the article is deleted. If someone does remove the tag, then you can nominate following the instructions on WP:AfD. mrholybrain's talk 14:48, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No need to be concerned about plagiarism allegations[edit]

The by-source categories are added by templates, which are not up for deletion. Therefore I don't think you have any reason to be concerned. Wimstead 14:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

You recently made a minor edit to Sarah Childress Polk, so hopefully you have some interest in the lady. I dropped an expert request for the US presidents WikiProject in there a while ago, but have yet to get a response to my questions. As a member of the Biography WP and what not, would you mind taking a peak and seeing if you can find the answers to the two questions posed on the talk page? If so, many thanks. If not, no worries. MrZaiustalk 16:17, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. I took a look at these questions and they seem like they will require some work. Right now, I do not want to do this. However, I may feel like getting dirty and looking this up later. I will leave this request on my Talk Page and hopefully I can get to it in the near future. LarryQ 22:06, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
