Welcome![edit]

Hello, Laura Navío at Neuroscience Journal, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Neuroscience (journal), and I noticed that your username, "Neuroscience, The IBRO Journal", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, LNM83. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Neuroscience (journal), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Randykitty (talk) 10:32, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Juan Lerma Gómez[edit]

stop This is now the third time that you create this article, copied verbatim from Gomez' CV. This is a violation of copyright and, in addition, it is not a neutral, encyclopedic article. You have a clear conflict of interest here and apparently you are not able to get around that and edit in a neutral way. I urge you to refrain from editing the Neuroscience article and to stop recreating the Gomez article by copying his CV. The next time you violate copyright, I will block you from editing. Thanks. --Randykitty (talk) 11:26, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Randykitty,

I noticed that you used speedy deletion for the page "Juan Lerma Gómez" arguing promotional or violation of copyright. Sorry but this is not the intention at all. The intention is to inform of his carreer as a relevant scientist for the community. Maybe I could do it more neutral, but yes it is based in Prof. Lerma CV, as other scientifics María Ángela Nieto https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar%C3%ADa_%C3%81ngela_Nieto. In fact, the best reliable source is the CV, so I don't understant why you don't allow this information. I'd be happy if you could substantiate which parts are considered as promotional or copyright, so that I can modify them accordingly. Also I don't know why it is not possible to upload a picture of him with his permisssion. I really appreciate any help because I am lost with this issue. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LN83 (talkcontribs)

  • I don't know about you, but my CV is intended to present myself in as much of a positive light as possible, because it is designed to get me a new job or a promotion. Hence, it is not a neutral source. It can be used to establish neutral information (date of birth, where a person works), but nothing else. Biographies, especially biographies of living persons, need to be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject. They have to meet the requirements of either WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, or (for academics) WP:PROF in order to be included here. In the present case, Juan Lerma Gómez does meet WP:PROF, as editor of an important international journal (Neuroscience), but a biography still needs to be neutral and encyclopedic. Hope this helps. --Randykitty (talk) 08:29, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, thanks Randykitty, I unsterstand better what you mean. I will change the "positive" points and try to ask for revision (I don't know how to do it yet) before to publish it. Same with the picture, why it is delete it if I have his permission? Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LN83 (talkcontribs)
  • Ever seen this cartoon? Anybody could say that they have permission, but we have no way of knowing that is true. You will have to go to WP:OTRS and follow the instructions there. --Randykitty (talk) 10:05, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:LNM83/Juan Lerma Gómez requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://in.umh-csic.es/datos/curriculum/LermaCV14.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
