License tagging for File:GMD+Talat Mahmood.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:GMD+Talat Mahmood.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:05, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:GMD+Talat Mahmood.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for April 4[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited G. M. Durrani, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ghulam Haider. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Talat Mahmood, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Dl2000 (talk) 22:14, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Khan Mastana has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Non-free image uses, neutrality, etc.[edit]

Kchatfb, I appreciate your enthusiasm and desire to expand on articles as you have been doing. However, it is critically important to understand a few points:

  1. Our policy on the use of non-free images strongly dictates against the use of non-free files. It should not be read as a roadmap to how to include non-free images, but rather how to limit non-free images as much as possible. In the G. M. Durrani article alone, there were 30 non-free images. 30! This placed this article at the fifth highest user of non-free images on this entire project of nearly 5 million articles. I.e. it was in the top 1% of 1% of 1% of articles on the project in terms of the use of non-free files. To have such a massive use of non-free files requires exceedingly strongly justification. The vast majority of the images that we re used here were used either without a rationale or with the rationale simply being for illustration. Illustration by itself is virtually never enough reason to include a non-free image except in the infobox at the top of the article. I have stripped down the 30 uses of non-free images to 3.
  2. I am guessing that this discussion is about an image that you re-uploaded as File:G.M. Durrani with others.jpg. If this is the case: There is a reason it was deleted in the first place. Simply re-uploading it does not address the very serious reasons why this image was removed the first time around. I've orphaned a number of images you have uploaded (and may orphan more). If they are deleted, please do not re-upload them without resolving the reasons why they were deleted.
  3. Much of the prose you are adding to articles is non-neutral in tone. Please read and understand our neutral point of view policy.
  4. Including such extensive lyrics into the article isn't how we write biographies here. Wikipedia is not a lyrics database. I have removed the extensive inclusion of lyrics in this article.

Your enthusiasm is wonderful! Some of our best contributors are ardent fans of their subject areas of interest. I welcome your contributions. We just need to make them encyclopedic. If you have questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:03, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Restoration of lyrics on G. M. Durrani[edit]

I have reverted your restoration of the lyrics to this article. This violates our policy on the use of non-free content (see WP:NFCC. Please also see WP:NOTLYRICS. Do NOT restore these lyrics again. If you have questions, ask. Edit warring to attempt to force them back in will (a) not work and (b) possibly lead to a temporary block of your editing privileges. This is a serious issue. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:11, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll quote our policy on the use of lyrics here for you: Lyrics databases. An article about a song should provide information about authorship, date of publication, social impact, and so on. Quotations from a song should be kept to a reasonable length relative to the rest of the article, and used to facilitate discussion, or to illustrate the style; the full text can be put on Wikisource and linked to from the article. Most song lyrics published after 1922 are protected by copyright, and any quotation of them must be kept to a minimum, and used for the purpose of direct commentary or to illustrate some aspect of the style. Never link to the lyrics of copyrighted songs unless the site linked to clearly has the right to distribute the work. See Wikipedia:Do not include the full text of lengthy primary sources for full discussion. --Hammersoft (talk) 15:20, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
