Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A couple of years ago, you left a comment on the talk page of Kudo system, pointing out that it's just a list. I've nominated the article for deletion, and thought you might want to weigh in. As it happens, there's nothing particularly notable about Kudo's taxonomy, and it has never been discussed in the professional literature as "the Kudo system." (Kudo himself was a notable researcher, though, and probably deserves a biography). The proper place for the "article's" contents is WikiSpecies. Deuterostome (talk) 16:04, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

'Siege of Malakand' revision undone (yes, I think it was a mistake to do so)

Hello

I am so new to this that I am not even sure this message will get to you.

I appreciate your input and your concern. If memory serves, I added the word "perceived" near the end of the following sentence, before the word "spread".

...border between Afghanistan and British India drawn up at the end of the Anglo-Afghan wars to help hold the Russian Empire's spread of influence towards the Indian subcontinent.

There is un-neutrality in the original sentence, I believe my edit made it less so.

It is a historical fact that the Russian Empire never had any interest in or towards India. British politicians of the 19th century would often talk as if Russia had an interest, but the overwhelming historical consensus nowadays is that they were mistaken to think so (if indeed they thought so -- quite possibly they were merely justifying Britain's expansion of interest in South Asia).

thanks A-W

205.210.47.14 (talk) 14:51, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

@205.210.47.14: Thanks for your message, A-W. Looking over the edit history, I believe this is that you are referring to? The edit I reverted was the word "feared" in "...a feared Russian spread of influence". On re-reading it, with your explanation above, I think that I misunderstood the intent of the edit. I was reading into "feared" the sense of "fearsome", which would have been introducing a personal opinion, whereas what you meant was that the Russian empire's spread of influence had not yet happened but was perceived to be a threat by the British. I'll change it back to something like "...help hold back what the British feared to be a Russian spread of influence...." In your original edit the "British" was implicit and I must have missed that. Thanks again for clarifying, and sorry for the inconvenience. Best -- Kbseah (talk) 17:08, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

Modified from unknown List of TCL Chinese Theatre handprint ceremonies destination Please return the edit again Mhmd elbhery (talk) 21:53, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

  • @Mhmd elbhery: I'm sorry but I'm not sure which edit you are referring to. My latest two edits were to remove the remnants of a large number of vandal edits which had been reverted by another editor, Maile66. I'm assuming that it was too difficult for him/her to disentangle the individual edits, so he/she may have reverted some legitimate, good-faith edits along the way. However, your user name is not associated with any edits in that article, unless you were previously editing anonymously. Could you please point me to the specific edit you want to have restored? Kbseah (talk) 15:07, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

@Kbseah Yes Tamer HosnY changed his place was under stan lee and placed in the list Unofficial and the amendment was made by ibrahim id This is not true in the right of a great artist like Tamer Hosny

  • @Mhmd elbhery: As user Ibrahim.ID made the edit, I think it is more appropriate that this question be directed to them instead. They appear to have already replied to a similar question from another user on their talk page. @Ibrahim.ID:: Is there any source for "official" vs. "unofficial"? It wasn't clear to me from your edits. Thanks, Kbseah (talk) 20:27, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
of course, this is the page on official website for official ceremonies, any celebrity make official handprint the Chinese Theatre place it in forecourt (this is the map), the theatre official social page talked about Premiere for Tamer Hosny movie not a handprint, all newspapers from Egypt are clearly inaccurate. --Ibrahim.ID 21:53, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
  • @Ibrahim.ID: Thank you for clarifying. However, there is the possibility that the TCL Chinese Theatre website simply has not updated their page yet, and the map of the forecourt also dates from 2016 and doesn't have enough resolution to see the names on the list. I do not read Arabic so I cannot evaluate the Egyptian newspaper articles as sources. -- Kbseah (talk) 22:04, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
at least, the TCL Chinese Theatre official social pages mention for that important event and they never talk about that (Just a Premiere), Tamer Hosny didn't make any works in Hollywood nor in USA, so this is illogically to be honored for nothing --Ibrahim.ID 22:39, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

@Ibrahim.ID Your speech is not true The site has already talked about this and in Facebook also and the World Music Report talked about it and international newspapers and this page is the Chinese theater on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TCLChineseTheatres/posts/1396970757023179

Check out this video as well Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMgQht_s9Pw&t=1s

It is not a condition that the artist has a connection to Hollywood. There are many people who have won it and have no connection to Hollywood — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mhmd elbhery (talkcontribs) 23:13, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

@Kbseah This is not fair .. How to be unofficial that Tamer Hosni is a big star is not so silly to do something like this .. The Chinese theater is the one who chose Tamer to receive the honor of his mark and was preparing a special ceremony for him and was attended by the President of the Chinese Theater and said there are 4000 stars in honor of Hollywood Boulevard, but the front yard dedicated to the fingerprint only nine to 250 or 260 artists and the plot will be among them alongside Michael Jackson, Marilyn and Brad Pitt etc .. Please return Tamer Hosni to the official list or delete it from the list unofficial Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mhmd elbhery (talkcontribs) 23:37, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

* @Mhmd elbhery: and @Ibrahim.ID: I think this is simply a situation where there are not enough verifiable sources online to say for certain whether it is "official" or "unofficial". Until the TCL Chinese Theater updates their webpage with an "official list", drawing conclusions based on a possibly incomplete photo gallery, whether he is a big star, or whether he has any connection to Hollywood are in my view original research. Unfortunately the article is structured in such a way that there are two separate lists for "official" and "unofficial", without any category for "unknown". In the absence of any clear source one way or another, I do not feel comfortable taking a side on this matter and will let the current version of the page stand. Vandalism on Yonggary pages

The pages for Yongary: Monster from the Deep and Yonggary (1999 film) keep being vandalized by that anonymous IP you sent a message to. He was already blocked for 3 days for unconstructive editing on those pages and after his block was lifted, he went back to vandalizing those articles again for which he was blocked the first time. Isn't there something that can be done to protect those articles? Armegon (talk) 23:54, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

@Armegon: Seems like you've already done what I would have done in the circumstances - request for page protection, and report the user for vandalism. Most vandals will give up when it's no longer fun or when they're bored. The pages are on my watchlist so I'll also keep an eye on them. Best, Kbseah (talk) 11:19, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Red of Black?

Some small confusion there, it's just that I thought we type in the name as, in the Red or Black? case, Chris' instead of the recently reverted version Chris's. I was thinking that was the wrong way of presenting it. 86.161.7.211 (talk) 22:20, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for dropping by. For most singular nouns including those ending in "s" the possessive is formed by adding "'s", with exceptions being names like "Moses'" and "Jesus'" where there isn't an additional "-es" sound when you say the possessive form out loud. However pronunciation can vary regionally, and from person to person, e.g. some people would say "Jesuses disciples" and others "Jesus disciples" for the possessive form. The Manual of Style suggests either adding "'s" to everything, or using the pronunciation as a guide, but in either case to be consistent within an article. This StackExchange post has a longer explanation of the issue. Adding "'s" to everything is simpler so that's what I'm biased towards, and also because I would pronounce it has "Chrisses". In any case I think that's the only incidence of a singular name ending in "s" in the possessive form in that article. Long story short: Both are potentially correct, but singular names ending in "s" can also have "'s" as an ending in the possessive. Hope this helps to explain my admittedly cryptic edit summary... Best regards, Kbseah (talk) 22:42, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I reverted the edit to Ecofascism because the cited sources were not directly addressing the topic of ecofascism, and so would appear to be improper editorial synthesis. Could you please provide more suitable citations? They should document how, and by whom, these subjects have been accused of being "ecofascists". That said, much of the article as it stands is problematic, and several of the issues have already been flagged. Yes this article would appear to be more suitable as a citation for the edit you wanted to make to Ecofascism regarding Charles Lindbergh, rather than the one that you had originally used, which only tangentially dealt with the issue. To be clear, I am not saying that environmentalists cannot be right-wing. My concern is only that the citations are appropriate, regardless of what the article is about. Also, please don't post the same or similar content repeatedly on my talk page under different headings. Once is sufficient to get my attention. Please also remember to sign your posts (though I know that the bot usually manages to catch most cases and auto-signs. Cheers, Kbseah (talk) 21:42, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for creating Wilbertomorphidae, Kbseah!

Wikipedia editor Nick Moyes just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

May I make two suggestions: a) it would be good to give greater clarity that the family consists of one only genus which itself consists of one species. b) I don't think hyperlinking 'marine interstitial habitat' to meiobenthos is appropriate. One's a habitat; the other is a group of species. Maybe a further bit of clarity is also needed here, too? I'll create a new redirect for the genus Wilbertomorpha to this article.

You made a mistake for reverting ox

The wiki article ox specifically says that a ox is a bovine mammal that is used as draft animal/beast of burden AND ONLY THAT.

In that kind of context its a yak, water buffalo or cattle, not a bovine like bison or African buffalo.

The ox article didn't mention that ox is any kind of bovine mammal and no matter the reason that should be in the disambiguation page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gyrkin (talkcontribs) 23:53, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Edits to Loxodes

Hello Manudouz: I saw that you edited the ref names for the citations I added to the article Loxodes. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I just wanted to point out that the ref names were added automatically when I used the Visual Editor, in case you're wondering where they came from. However I do understand how they are maybe too cryptic for editors who are directly editing in wiki markup. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a way to edit the ref name within the visual editor. Cheers, Kbseah (talk) 21:37, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello Kbseah: thank you for the explanation about the automatic numbering of references reused. I think that the only way to edit the ref names is to switch between visual and source editors. All the best, Manudouz (talk) 22:31, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

@GreenMeansGo: Has this happened before to him recently? If he is not a notable public figure, please consider whether it is appropriate to mention him at all (see WP:NPF). If you do have a source, please be sure to cite it - it's okay if the reference is not completely correctly formatted the first time, as someone with more experience will usually fix it. See WP:CITE for more information on citing sources. Hope that this helps. Kbseah (talk) 13:17, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
