Dawlat

Because that Islamic state in Nuristan is one of the few entities I've seen referred to in English as simply "Dawlat". I know it's just an Arabic word for "state/government", but usually people, in English writing, don't refer to the other countries as "Dawlat ...". If you have evidence of people, in English books or magazines, using the term Dawlat for something else, by all means change the redirect of make a disambiguation page. MatthewVanitas (talk) 00:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Dawlatin hem Turkce olugunda biliyorum. Be that as it may, there's nothing I'm aware of in English that's referred to simply as "Dawlat". If you run across something known just by that term, by all means make a disambiguation page. MatthewVanitas (talk) 05:12, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Flags

Merhaba, Kavas. It's nice to meet another editor interested in the Seljuks. I notice you are a relatively new user, so you may not have noticed the talkpage discussion concerning the addition of flag icons. The flags in question are problematic because the purported Ilkhanate flag is extremely dubious; in fact, the image page File:Flag of the Ilkhanate.svg carries a warning that it is highly speculative and should not be added to articles about the Ilkhanate. The other image is similarly speculative and has been discussed on the talkpage, where consensus has been against its inclusion. If you believe strongly that they should be included, you are welcome to make a case on the talkpage. Thanks, Kafka Liz (talk) 21:25, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Image usage

I have uploaded this photo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sincan_tanks.jpg) from Turkish wikipedia (http://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dosya:Sincan'dan_ge%C3%A7en_tanklar.jpg). It is a significant photo because, it depicts tanks moving in Sincan as part of the 1997 military memorandum in Turkey. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone check it? Kavas (talk) 13:43, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

If it's going to be used on multiple wiki's, would it not be better to upload it to Commons instead? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:55, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

It is deleted from commons. I think it is deleted because I chose non-free historic image for the category of the image. This is also the category in turkish wikipedia.Kavas (talk) 14:04, 10 April 2010 (UTC) Is there a copyright problem in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sincan_tanks.jpg now? Kavas (talk) 14:11, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I think it is okay now. And non-free images don't belong on Commons, so they have to be uploaded to each wiki separately. Svick (talk) 14:45, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, thank you. Kavas (talk) 14:45, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Muslim presence in the Balkans and Asia MInor

While WP is not a forum I will say this: Any discussion of the reduction in the Muslim presence in the Balkans and Asia Minor must include and be preceded by a thorough discussion of the establishment of said presence. Islam is a religion that spread in those areas by the sword not by the word. Most modern Turkish cities are built on the ruins of Greek and Armenian cities, Constantinople, Smyrna, Heracle, Trebizond, Theodosiopolis, Adrianopolis etc. Islam killed and enslaved Christian Greeks by the hundreds of thousands in order to achieve its position of dominance in Asia Minor and the Balkans.--Anothroskon (talk) 12:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

I do not deny that Muslims were persecuted in the 19th and 20th c. in the Balkans (note that these were Muslims and not yet Turks since they did not yet identify as Turks). Any article on these events will have to include a section on the origins of these particular Muslim communities (how Islam spread into Indonesia is not the issue here). And their origins include the decimation of the indigenous Grecoroman (Rum) and Armenian population that had inhabited these territories before them. Moreover most of these Muslims would have been descendants of indigenous Christians who converted to Islam. This is certainly the case with Bosniaks and the majority of modern Turks.--Anothroskon (talk) 14:37, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Genocide of Ottoman Turks and Muslims

Greetings, I am not sure if you are aware but the AfD on the Genocide of Ottoman Turks and Muslims concluded against article deletion. The article has been renamed to Persecution of Ottoman Muslims and Turks 1821-1922 if you are intersted you are welcome to contribute. Currently the article is facing severe vandalims attacks, however in due time I hope editing and contribution can continue. regards Hittit (talk) 17:36, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi!

Hi! Talk pages can be deleted, but only if the talk is totally irrelevant to the changes in the article or doesn't discuss them, or are personal attacks or carry a manner of announcements and aren't for discussion. Be cool! Aregakn (talk) 19:34, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. I just wanted to tell, that the word "yeghern" has several meanings, but one of the most meant is an unimaginably severe crime (almost always a murder and only fulfilled by human). It always sounded strange for it to be interpreted as "Disaster". Catastrophe is closer, yes (thanks). But still it is an interpretation of the term and not a translation. Just FYI. Have a good rest! Aregakn (talk) 12:39, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, so did I understand it. It appears to be a double translation. I wrote the above for your info only. Aregakn (talk) 12:51, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Kavas,

I may have accidentally overwritten some of your newest contributions to the activist accounts section which I was also editing. If so this was unintentional and I hope you will reinsert the changes. Zuchinni one (talk) 14:38, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on İbrahim Bilgen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Marokwitz (talk) 17:41, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated İbrahim Bilgen, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/İbrahim Bilgen. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Marokwitz (talk) 05:36, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Caption claiming photo is of Israeli soldiers killing Furkan Doğan

Hi Kavas,

You've made some really good edits to the article. But there is one edit that is quite controversial as per the talk section here, which you have previously contributed to: Talk:Gaza_flotilla_raid#Photo_labeled_.22The_19_year_old_Furkan_moment_of_death.22

There is a claim made that the photo whose caption you edited here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gaza_flotilla_raid&diff=367672151&oldid=367671669

Is of Israeli soldiers killing Furkan Doğan. But as you can see from the talk section that is very debated. The bottom line is that currently there is zero solid evidence that the video or the photo shows anyone getting shot.

For the time being I am going to revert your edit. I'm also going to post a link to this talk section in the Discussion so that people can see why I reverted and, if consensus is reached, restore your edit.

Cheers,

Syrian Turkmens (Turkmen in Syria çift maddeymiş :)) de ayrı. Speedy deletion of Template:History of Turkiye

A tag has been placed on Template:History of Turkiye requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Template:History of Turkey sidebar

Hi there

I've fixed up the sidebar a bit, but it still needs work. Specifically, I think you need to fill in the parts about the Ottoman Empire. Also, there is another sidebar being used on the History of Turkey article. Reading it, it seems that both the article and that sidebar are about the history of the Republic of Turkey. I suggest that you discuss with the people on that page about whether it would be appropriate to move that page to History of the Republic of Turkey, and change History of Turkey to an article about the history of the geographical region of Turkey.

Regards, LK (talk) 08:16, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

I'ld leave it for a few days, and then, if there are no objections, go ahead and move History of Turkey to History of the Republic of Turkey. Then, make a new History of Turkey article by copying the history section from the Turkey article, and expanding on it a bit. Let me know if you need help with moving the article, or any other technical matters. LK (talk) 07:32, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
I have found a page which has actually the same meaning with the page we're planning to create. The page is History of the Turkish people, it's unnecassary to have two pages that encompasses the same thing. Turkish people only refers to the Turkic people in Turkey, so their history is just the history of Turkey. I'm planning to move History of the Turkish people to History of Turkey. The only material not suitable in this page is "Origins (6th to 10th centuries)" part, but I can move this part to Turkish people page and instead of this material I can write the antique history of Turkey (before Turkic migration) to this section. (I have moved "Origins (6th to 10th centuries)" to Turkish people page, but I realized it was unsourced) Most of the -extremely long- DNA analysis stuff in the page can also be moved to Turkish people page. Kavas (talk) 22:08, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
That sounds like a good idea. I support your suggested moves. I will be taking these pages and your talk page off my watch list, as I know very little about this topic and you seem to have the project well in hand. Please leave me a message on my talk page if you need any technical help (e.g. how to move an article, how to make a redirect, need template fixed, etc). Administrator intervention against vandalism

Thank you for your report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. The case you reported concerned a content dispute and edit warring, but not vandalism, so this was not the right place to report it. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring would have been more appropriate. Even so, I decided to deal with the incident. I have blocked the range of IP addresses used for a week, and semi-protected the article for a month. Hi, Joshua Project is not a reliable source. (Yes, I did use it but I noticed that it is not neutral.) Second, I do not oppose to the removal of Tonyukuk but I oppose to the removal of Monyukuk. The origins of Turkish people is "Turks" of Central Asia. I suggest you read an article about one Indo-European people, for example Germans for comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germans. The origin section starts with "Germanic people" not "German ethnicity". Kavas (talk) 01:38, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Takabeg (talk) 02:07, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

1R Rule

Niye sözde kelimesini kaldırmadın ? Kaldırmayı unuttun mu ? Takabeg (talk) 11:14, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

"Do not make any edit to the article that reverses the edit of another user in whole or in part more than once in any 24 hour period or you may be blocked from editing for a short period" Kavas (talk) 11:15, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Sadece ondan mı ? Ama o mesele çok basit. Sözde kelimesinin eklenmesinin ansiklopediye uymadığı aşikârdır. Takabeg (talk) 11:18, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
OK, I could revert it. "Reverting actions performed by banned users are not counted as reverts" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_revert_rule#The_three-revert_rule Kavas (talk) 11:22, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Even in Turkish Wikipedia, we cannot use "sözde". Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 11:40, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Joshua

In German Wikipedia they use the data of Joshua Project for Turkish in Germany. Takabeg (talk) 15:02, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, find an example from English Wikipedia where we are. Kavas (talk) 15:03, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
For example White Argentine. In any case we have to show the numbers of ethnic Turkish in article Turkish people. Takabeg (talk) 15:06, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
+ Spanish people Takabeg (talk) 15:10, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
I just wrote a note to in the talk page of White Argentine. Let's see. Kavas (talk) 15:12, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Shall we see. I'll ask German Wikipedia too. Takabeg (talk) 15:40, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Halledebilir misin ? Takabeg (talk) 05:21, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

First, people should choose one of these names. There's a debate here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Kahramanmara%C5%9F_massacre Kavas (talk) 22:26, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Takabeg (talk) 22:51, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

In Google seaches, least accurate names sometimes take more hits. Can you please comment on talk page of the article? Kavas (talk) 22:55, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
If no objection, go ahead and redirect one of them. Kavas (talk) 22:56, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Terörist ?

Tekir terörist mi oldu ? Eski TCK hükümlerine göre...

Madde 384 - (28/9/1971 tarih ve 1490 sayılı Kanunla yeniden düzenlenen hük- müdür.)

ile 5 yıl

Madde 179 - (1/3/1926 tarih ve 765 sayılı Kanunun hükmüdür.)

ile

3 yıl 10 ay 20 gün olmak üzere toplam 8 yıl 10 ay 20 gün ağır hapis cezasına çarptırıldı. Yani terör eylemleriyle cezalandırılmamıştır, anladığım kadarıyla.

Takabeg (talk) 07:49, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Erdinç Tekir maddesi artık kalabilir, bence. Emeklerimiz niye suya düşsün ? Takabeg (talk) 14:44, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Emeklerin suya düşmesi kriter değil. Kavas (talk) 14:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Eğer Çetin Topçuoğlu kayda değer ise Erdinç Tekir kesinlikle kayda değerdir. Değil mi ? Takabeg (talk) 14:49, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Birde User talk:Justinz84'i ikna edebilir misin ? Israrla kaynaklar kaldırıyor. Turkish people maddesi Persian people maddesi gibi olmasın. Takabeg (talk) 17:32, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

on Joshua Project

Hello, Kavas; I'm Pablo Zeta from Argentina. I'm the one who's rebuilding the article "White Argentine" Joshua Project is a reliable source -at least to me- for it gives very detailed info on ethnic groups. I am doing a research on the different races and I'm loading the data from the JP on an Excel grid and it gives me similar results to those of the CIA Factbook or Worldstatemen.org. For example, the CIA Factbook states that the US have 79.9% Whites and 12.8% Blacks, and after summing up all the "white" and "black" ethnic groups from the JP the result was 77.8% Whites and 14.1% Blacks. The same with Argentina; World Statesmen.org states 86.4% Whites + 3.3% Arabs, and my calculation results were Whites 82.9% + 2.9% Arabs. The same happened with Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and other countries; there may be variations of 2-3% on the percentages, but the results are surprisingly similar to those of another sources. --Pablozeta (talk) 03:12, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Bariz hatalar bulunmadığı müdetçe Joshua Project kullanalım. Takabeg (talk) 05:22, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Caferilik

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey#Religion, Alevileri Şii'lerin içine katıp, Caferilerden hiç bahsedilmiyordu. Bir referans ekledim, Caferiler 3,000,000 kadar. Kavas (talk) 12:46, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Niye bana sordun ?
Takabeg (talk) 13:37, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Ecevit'in kendisi Kürt değildir. Ancak sülalesi Kürtzade olarak kabul ediliyor. Yani Kürt kökenli. O değişmez. Anne taraf Boşnak mıydı ? Ona bakalım. Birde senin Erdinç Tekir'i Abkhazian descent Turkish citizen yaptığını gördüm de :) Tekir'in kendisi Abhazyadan göç etmedi. Sülalesi Osmanlı döneminde göç etti. Niye citizen ? Takabeg (talk) 14:46, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

O zaman Ahmet Türk Turkish people mı oluyor? Kavas (talk) 14:51, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Asimile olmuşsa Turkish people oluyordur herhalde. Mesela Ecevit Turkish people sayılıyor. Ahmet Türk'e Turkish people demek zordur. Kürt kimliği ön planda. Takabeg (talk) 15:01, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Erdinç Tekir'de de Abkhazian kimlik ön planda. Savaşa falan girmiş, ben Abkhazian kimliği vurgulamak için Turkish citizen demiştim. Kavas (talk) 15:04, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Hmm.
Takabeg (talk) 15:13, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Soru

Bu resmi non-free olarak yüklemiştim. İngilizce Vikide kullanılmıyor mu ? Eğer öyle kural varsa Cevdet Kılıçlar'ın resmi de değiştirmem lazım. Ama bu güzel çıkmadı. Takabeg (talk) 01:16, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Bunu hallettik. Takabeg (talk) 15:49, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Comment

Hi bear. Please comment about Talk:Zilan massacre. A user from Turkish Wikipedia added groundless template with only his own opinion (without sources). His argument is nonsense. He insists that the Zilan massacre (July 1930) committed in Ararat rebellion (1926-1930) isn't massacre. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 04:44, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Çorum Katliamı

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Çorum massacres niye silindi ? Kötü bir makale miydi acaba ? Takabeg (talk) 15:48, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Admins can access to deleted pages. You can ask them to find the source of the deleted page. I have no idea on the articles you have asked to me. Kavas (talk) 01:44, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
I couldn't find other users to ask issue about the history Turkey. And I think you might know the AfD process of that article. Sadece ondan sana sordum. AfD sayfasında gördüğüm kullanıcının hiç birinin konuya hakim olmadığı anlaşıldı. Yani başka danışabilecek kişi bulmadım :) Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 01:51, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
"Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you" deniyor. Kavas (talk) 01:55, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
OK. Maddeyi açmadan önce soracağım. Takabeg (talk) 02:22, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
