Gerard Heinz's marriage[edit]

Apparently the word of Gerard Heinz's son's mother is not enough!!! Care to explain?! Jpaulm (talk) 19:20, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well, I think that's bizarre! That means that a lot of personal knowledge is in danger of being lost :-( Plus info on the net is not necessarily more reliable than people's own memories - just because someone tapped it into a computer... Thanks anyway. Jpaulm (talk) 19:39, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are other places on the internet to record personal histories, it's just that Wikipedia's mission is not for that purpose. If some knowledge is really important (for you, for the world) then it is important enough to publish it outside of wikipedia (in a magazine, blog, book). That knowledge can then be cited and brought back into wikipedia. That may be silly... but it serves an important purpose, it means that there is more than one organization responsible for holding the info. Wikipedia itself is not a publishing house... it is a place that distills information from other sources. Jorgejao (talk) 21:45, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • That actually makes sense! That's the best explanation of this policy I've heard yet! Jpaulm (talk) 14:53, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
