Public-access television[edit]

Please stop adding the phrase "cable TV" after public-access television. First, the phrase "public access television" includes television so cable TV is unnecessary. Second, the article on public-access television says that is carried on cable. Finally, the abbreviation TV is inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. Now schools zones first Mount Vernon,Tabb,some parts of Bethel Manor,And some parts of Coventry are zoned for Tabb Middle and Tabb High.

Capitalization[edit]

Greetings. It looks like you made many changes to the article after I rewrote the television section yesterday. Your most recent change is here. You did not provide an edit summary, inserted several typos and ended up reverting most of my changes. I believe that my wording explained the duties of a television TD more clearly and grouped the terminology differences in a separate paragraph to minimize confusion to the reader. Thanx so much for your comments, they are very helpful! I'd reply on Wikipedia but not all that sure how to do it. The major issue I think with Wikipedia is the lack of linking within Wikis. For instance the Wiki tech dir vs. The Wiki Tv dir. Yes, a tv dir in the states is a tech dir but there was no linking between the two Wikis. This was the thinking behind linking the Wikis. Does it make sense? By no means did I ever intend to step on anyones toes. Again, thx for reaching out.
Actually, the (TV) Director and the Technical Director are two distinct positions in most situations. Directors may be called on to act as TDs and switch their own shows in small market stations or for cable and non-broadcast productions. I have reverted your changes to the article to my last version because I think my wording more clearly defines the duties of the television TD. Looks like you are still confused about the difference between the Television director and the Technical director or TD on a crew. Excessive wikilinking[edit]

While it may applied too harshly by some, I still respectfully recommend that you review the guideline on linking. Many of the links you've added in the various Law & Order related articles are clear examples of overlinking, that is the insertion of redundant links or links to common terms that readers can be expected to know. oknazevad (talk) 01:02, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The point of the changes is to include the primary topics that the original wiki editors failed to include of didn't wikifi. I hope this makes sense.

I understand the point, but nevertheless you are making a great many poor quality edits across many articles based on a frequently poor understanding of both the artciles' subjects and WP policies. Most of the edits had nothing to do with sources, primary or otherwise. And some were sticking things like Farnsworth patents into places much too general to get into the history of who invented what, which is very complicated and can't be addressed by primary sources. Using Television lines as an example of a perfectly good wiki gone missing. Doing a search for television line returns 405-line television system and nothing in that particular wiki link back to Television lines which then should link to Lines of resolution which doesn't link back to Television. The reference loop is open, the follow through is just not there.

I do appreciate your interest. Let me explain, the sentence "An audio encoder may be capable of capturing, compressing and converting audio" and links audio codec. The sentence "A video encoder may be capable of capturing, compressing and converting audio/video" links back to Encoder, the page it is already on. Does it make sense to link video to video codec instead of itself?

Audio signal processing[edit]

You recently added some wikilinks to Audio signal processing. You marked these edits as minor. The edits changed the focus and meaning of the section. Although the changes are subtle, it is not appropriate to mark these as minor edits. Further, it appears to me that the focus and meaning changes were unintentional - the presumed intention being to add the wikilinks. Be aware that adding links is not a mechanical exercise. Also, SoHo does not go all the way to the river, it stops either before or at Sixth Avenue. The neighborhood west of SoHo is variously called "Hudson Square" or the "South Village". Please stop and think about what you're doing, because if you continue to edit disruptively against the advice of other editors, you're probably going to get blocked again, and the length of the blocks will increase each time.. Edit summary again[edit]

"added wiki link" is not an appropriate all-purpose edit summary. If you change a word, or add a see-also item, or add a category, that's more than just putting double brackets around something. Accurate summaries help other contributors decide whether it is worthwhile for them to review an edit, and to understand the change should they choose to review it. When a major edit (e.g. deletion of a substantial amount of text) doesn't have an edit summary, there are fewer reasons to assume good faith and busy editors may be more inclined to revert the change without checking it in detail.
