(Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't online yesterday UTC) The problem with copyright when uploading an image is that Wikipedia has to be sure that the copyright licence is appropriate for reuse everywhere. "You have permission to use this image on Wikipedia" is unfortunately not good enough (which is what caused the warning; OrphanBot got slightly confused and gave a misleading, but technically correct, warning). If the author of the image is willing to licence it for anyone to use for any purpose, then you can specify the image copyright by writing {{PD-release}} on the image description page (leave the licence in the licence dropdown as 'none selected' if you're writing tags directly into the page like this); normally, people will put some conditions on the use of the image, so you can use a tag like {{Attribution|name of author}} ('the copyright holder allows the image to be freely redistributed, modified, used commercially and for any other purpose, provided that their authorship is attributed'), depending on what the conditions are. I suggest that you contact the image's copyright owner again to clarify what the licence is, and read Wikipedia:Image copyright tags to determine the correct way to express what the copyright is for the image. If you need more help with the tagging, ask the copyright holder and let me know what the exact terms of the release of the image are (see commons:Commons:Licensing#Acceptable_licenses to determine what terms are acceptable for images on Wikipedia). If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.
