July 2018[edit]

Hello. Your recent edit to List of Linux distributions appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Your mail[edit]

Hello Joli Tambour, thank you for your mail. I usually don't use mails for such Wikipedia-related issues (unless they involve confidential information). Discussion on public forums is more transparent and allows other interested editors to chime in if they want to. Regarding your question: German and English Wikipedia are separate autonomous projects with separate rules and administrations. On English Wikipedia some lists (especially those with commercial topics or with a lot of entries) are restricted to Wiki-"notable" entries with an existing article. German Wiki often has more lenient rules on some aspects, that has no bearing on the handling in other projects.
