Hello, Johan Kraft, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Percepio, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Percepio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Johan Kraft. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Percepio, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 08:13, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would like to request that you not add your products to Wikipedia, at least not directly. While it may have been unintentional, the articles came across as fairly promotional in tone, especially since you included multiple links where people could obtain the software. You also didn't assert how the company or product would pass notability guidelines on Wikipedia. To do this you would need to show where the company or product received coverage in independent and reliable sources like newspapers. If you do want to try to get the company added the best outlet for you would be WP:AfC, where the article would be looked over by an independent editor before it is accepted. Longer post[edit]

Please do not create your articles in the mainspace for the time being. The page you created can be seen as promotional in tone, which can be seen as you trying to advertise your product on Wikipedia. The worst ting to do right now is to repeatedly repost the article in the mainspace, as this can be seen as spam.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. First, compile sources that cover your software in independent and reliable sources. Do not use WP:PRIMARY sources like company websites or anywhere people can download or otherwise acquire the product. Primary sources cannot show notability and in the instance of the product pages, those can be seen as merchant sources and are almost never acceptable on Wikipedia. What you need are things like newspaper coverage or reviews in websites that would pass muster at WP:RS/N.
  2. Secondly, declare your conflict of interest on your userpage. You can still edit with a conflict of interest, but it is highly discouraged because it's so easy to make an article promotional without intending to. This is what happened with the pages you've created on Wikipedia.
  3. Next, read over the guidelines at WP:COI and go through one of the training modules at WP:TRAINING or WP:ADVENTURE so you can get a good overview of the editing policies on Wikipedia.
  4. Finally, create your article at WP:AfC. This is the articles for creation process and while it won't be immediately posted to the mainspace, it will give you a chance to improve any of the issues with the articles and help assuage concerns over a conflict of interest.

When you're writing your article at AfC, try not to use hotlinks to various places that use your product or various product pages. I need to re-state this since this was a huge issue with many of the pages you tried to create. This, paired with an obvious conflict of interest, is one of the biggest things that can make an article promotional.

I would recommend that rather than try to create a page for the company and the product, that you create one for the company and work in some information about the product. It's usually far easier to try to show notability for a company (which releases multiple products) than for one specific thing, especially when the product is something that is so specific that it's unlikely to gain a lot of coverage in RS. I'm willing to transfer a copy of the page for your company to AfC so you can get started on it there, if you're interested.

In any case, here's a rundown of the sourcing on the Tracealyzer article. The Electronics Weekly link is problematic. It was posted by Richard Wilson but the bio at the end gives off the strong impression that you wrote this piece. This would make it WP:PRIMARY, which means it cannot show notability. The same goes for Design & Reuse, which appears to be a press release. The thing about primary sources is that it doesn't matter where it's posted because as long as it is primary it still cannot show notability. MCU on Eclipse is a blog, which makes it a self-published source. SPS are rarely usable because they undergo little to no editorial oversight that Wikipedia can verify. It doesn't mean that they're not interesting or even incorrect, but it's very rare for a blog to hold up under scrutiny on here. Embedded looks to be usable, as the site has an editorial staff and the writer is one of their staff members. It's a little brief, but it should be good. This is the type of source you want more of, although you do want it to be longer and more in-depth, otherwise people might raise questions over whether or not the coverage is too WP:TRIVIAL.

Tone-wise, part of the issue is that the article still reads a bit like it was taken from the official product page. Re-writing things of this nature can be difficult regardless of the product, which is part of the difficulty in this since there's only so many ways to describe something. It's why a lot of editors just go for a spec overview of something rather than a paragraph description. The other thing is that the article still had some hotlinks. I'd avoid those at all costs and just redlink the systems. (IE, that the page would show up as a redlink, which would help show editors that a page needs to be created on those systems.) • Actually, I'm going to go ahead and take the post on my talk page as evidence that you'd be interested in a draft copy. I'll go ahead and transfer the company's history to AfC. You'd still need to clean it up promotional-wise, but at least there you'd have something to work with. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:55, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
