Hi, Jj98

I was wondering, since you rearranged the Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state) page could you create or have a page started for an assessment box on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/South Georgia (U.S. state) task force page. I have been tagging county pages and other areas that are in the South Georgia area to go into this task force page and it would be nice to see, visually and easily, how many pages have been tagged into it. So, could you do this or have someone with higher power to do this task? Tamer_of_Hope talk 20:50, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, since I've converted into task forces, an assessment box will be crated. However, I will create it myself, thank you. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 21:09, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome! Thanks! Tamer_of_Hope talk 23:30, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List and Redirect-Class cats for WP:ALM

Hey there, the reason I keep blanking the List and Redirect-Class for WP:ALM for deletion is that we as a project do no use or find these categories helpful for our purposes. With Redirects, we have no reason to keep track of them, especially for quality purposes (since they have no content). For lists, we follow the example of other WikiProjects such as WP:DISCOGS in that we assign quality ratings to all lists so we can track quality; a List category is thus not helpful for our purposes. WesleyDodds (talk) 22:38, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, back in may, I've set to FQS=yes on the class mask on the WikiProject Alternative music project banner myself including Redirect and List class. Redirect-Class is for pages that redirects to another article with a similar name, related topic or that has been merged the original article at this location. List-Class is no set format for a list, but its organization should be logical and useful to the reader. Lists should be lists of live links to Wikipedia articles, appropriately named and organized. The Portal-Class has not been used by the Alternative music WikiProject. Look, if you don't want the List, Portal and Redirect-Class, I'll fix and remove some of it for you myself and add hidewarnings=yes on the class mask to hide any warnings. Regards, JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 23:46, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much. Yes, Portal-Class would be another we have no use for. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:53, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

KLOVE?

Hey....I was just wondering why you tagged the page KLOVE as in Georgia U.S. state and South Georgia Task Force? Georgia is not mentioned anywhere on the page? Tamer_of_Hope talk 05:35, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the article was tagged by WikiProject Greater Albany/Savannah/Valdosta (South Georgia) in 2009 before the project went inactive in 2010. I don't know, I must have remove the WikiProject Greater Albany/Savannah/Valdosta (South Georgia) banner and replaced it with the {{WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)}} banner after WikiProject Greater Albany/Savannah/Valdosta (South Georgia) merged. If its not based in Georgia, I've removed the banner myself, thank you. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 05:48, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Other options

It is generally preferable that inactive WikiProjects not be deleted, but instead be marked as {{inactive}}, redirected to a relevant WikiProject, or changed to a task force of a parent WikiProject, unless the WikiProject was incompletely created or is entirely undesirable. WikiProjects that were never very active should not be tagged as {{historical}}, reserve this tag for the only the most influential projects that have, over time, been replaced by other processes or that contain substantial discussion of the organization of a significant area of Wikipedia. Before deletion of an inactive project with a founder or other formerly active members who are active elsewhere on Wikipedia, consider userfication.

If you (or someone else) has already done the above or it simply looks hopeless, consider one of these options:

  1. Merger. Consider proposing a merger with another wikiproject. This might be a related project of a similar type, with the two projects being reconstituted as part of a new one. More commonly it might be that the inactive project could become a taskforce of a parent project.
  2. Mark as defunct. In some cases projects are simply superseded (e.g., merged elsewhere), have served their stated purpose, or have been inactive for so long that they are unlikely ever to be revived. These may be tagged as defunct rather than inactive; see the usage notes and guidelines at {{defunct}}. This tag should be used rather than {{historical}} which is reserved for failed proposals or deprecated processes.
  3. Userfy. When project had only one active member or was never so active as to justify keeping it for the whole community to refer to, consider userfication of the project to the organizer's userspace. This is particularly useful for recently created projects that never got off the ground as it can avoid being bitey.
  4. Deletion. In rare cases, deletion may be appropriate. This might be appropriate for completely inactive projects which have no substantive history and serve no residual purpose even without activity (e.g., due to automation or information presented). Projects must also meet the guidelines for being marked as defunct (see {{defunct}}). WP:MFD is the appropriate forum to propose this.

If you are considering taking any significant steps in this area which others might object to, take care to give appropriate notice to all parties of your proposals (including the WikiProject Council). Often it will be feasible to notify all listed participants who have been active on Wikipedia in the recent past (even if not recently active on the project). If proposing a merger, be sure to propose this at the merger target and do not take approval for granted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moxy (talkcontribs)

Template:FGwiki

Just a heads up about this and to see if you had any thoughts on it as well. I would like to understand your rational better. Years ago I defended a lot of these kinds of templates, and for the very reasons I mention at Plastikspork's talk page. There is no ban on ELs just because they are wikis/user generated content, and there are good reasons why we make exceptions for many of them.

But then again it's also been years since I've seen the Family Guy wiki. I also don't know if some of the reasons (cruft drain) still apply today for those articles. I don't know how many of those show/wiki specific templates still exist, but if it is time to re-evaluate the remaining ones then I would be interested in hearing your input on the matter. -- Ned Scott 23:03, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, the Wikia links are considered to be WP:ELNO and are not useful to them depends on the article activity. This had one previous deletion back in 2007. See Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2008 October 13#Template:FGwiki. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 23:35, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

August 2011

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of programs broadcast by Cartoon Network. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. GedUK  19:26, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to pull WikiProject Wyoming under WikiProject United States

It was recently suggested that WikiProject Wyoming, to which you are a member, may be inactive or semi active and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there have not been any active discussions on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. I have begun a discussion on the projects talk page to see how the members of the project feel about this suggestion. --Kumioko (talk) 01:00, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I replied your comments on the WikiProject's talk page Kumioko. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 05:41, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for adding those other projects to the WPUS template. I assume these projects have low activity and you are familiar with them but I left notes on the talk pages so that other members of the projects can comment if they so desire. I am completely ok with this (in fact there are a couple more that I may add in the next week as well) but I want to ensure that we follow the process to avoid anyone thinking we are trying to do anything shady. --Kumioko (talk) 02:30, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome Kumi, since I've put {{Tdeprecated}} tag on the WikiProject Wyoming banner because it is going take while to replace it. Since you're using the AWB to replace the banner and tagging with {{WikiProject United States}} on talk pages, but I don't know how to use AWB myself. Is there instructions how to use the AWB to replace the banner? JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 02:53, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There aren't really instructions for the banner replacement. There are instructions on using AWB and I have developed some code that cleans up a lot of problems that appear on talk pages and can be used to replace a banner pretty easily. Its not flawless so it needs watching but its a good way to semiautomatically make changes. The app does a lot of the grunt work all you have to do is look at the change and presssave if its good. --Kumioko (talk) 16:06, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rating request

I was wondering if you could rate the 2010 article Chill of the Night! for WikiProject Animation. I started the article in 2010 and since it appears to be the only notable episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, I was wondering what the Animation ratings are. I would have just posted the template and waited for someone to rate it, but there isn't too many WikiProject Animation members. I would rate it myself, but I'm not familiar with WikiProject rating. Joe Chill (talk) 04:10, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My favorite article that I started is Start Class, huh. The reason for that is because it looked like the only Batman article that wasn't already created and the antagonist Joe Chill is my Wikipedia namesake. Joe Chill (talk) 04:16, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As noted, I've rated start class for WP:ANIMATION and added WikiProject Comics and WikiProject Television project banners to cover it. Please remember that an fair use image is required. Our project WP:ANIMATION is little active, but not much activity. It has 15,000 articles within the scope, including 18 work groups. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 04:18, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Could a fair use image be a still from the episode? I can't seem to find the episode title screen. Joe Chill (talk) 04:21, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, possibly from television screenshots, not from YouTube. So long as it meets WP:IUP and WP:NFCC, I would recommend to WP:MOSTV and WP:EPISODE for guidelines, thank you. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 07:38, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Structure criteria

Hey JJ, may I know what does "Structure: criterion not met" mean? I mean to say, can you explain it in a bit detail because I've been working on this article for almost 2 and a half years and I really want it to go up as far as quality scale is concerned. Just because its the B-Class criteria checklist which I've added myself to the WikiProject Animation banner before MSGJ protected it and | converted WikiProject Cartoon Network into a work group of WP:ANIMATION after it went inactive 2009. Sadly, Baa (talk · contribs) is no longer here since WikiProject Cartoon Network died, and would have could been member of the Animation WikiProject along with Yngvarr (talk · contribs). Animation tagging

Hi

Why are you tagging video games featuring The Simpsons? It doesn't really belong to the animation genre. --Maitch (talk) 08:48, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it does, The Simpsons video games are based on the animated television series and it is animation genre like Family Guy and SpongeBob SquarePants which has also has video games based on the animated series and films, since I've been tagging around myself. For example, I've rated bottom importance to the WikiProject Animation banner just like WikiProject Comics, which has also bottom and no importance rating which covers some video games based on the comic book series, strips and characters. Look, sorry to bother me, but I don't the time myself, I've got a WikiProject Animation coming up on the signpost on August 22. Cheers. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 09:17, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you can inherit a projects articles like that. Yes, The Simpsons is animation, but that doens't mean that all articles related to the Simpsons are about animation. How far do you want to go? Do you also want to tag the pinball machine or maybe the discography. This is over-tagging and a waste of time. Try and improve the articles in your own project instead. --Maitch (talk) 15:01, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I just noticed you already tagged the discography. That's just crazy. It has nothing to do with animation. --Maitch (talk) 15:09, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article assessment

Hey Jj, sorry for bothering you again but can you please have a look at this? I don't think it should be considered in the start-class category, in Pakistan as well as in the Animation portal. It's well-written article and the sections have been expanded drastically since its creation. Kindly give it a read and please set the appropriate rank for it, by assessing it. Thanks :) ♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 21:03, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Baltimore task force

I just wanted to clarify the task force you mentioned. What I would need to do is basically add it under the WPUS template in a separate group for cities in the documentation. Like how we separated National projects from State projects we could just add another group for Cities and local projects. I hadn't started down that road yet but since I thnk we have already gotten most of the states that wish too we can start turning towards those. There are several that I think we could add that are either Inactive or semi active like Omaha (especially since we already added Nebraska), Myrtle Beach (we also added the parent state there) and several others. --Kumioko (talk) 13:57, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, these U.S. cities has never been added or pulled the WikiProject United States banner. For example, WikiProject District of Columbia is a U.S. Cities project which had been pulled under WikiProject United States, and Atlanta is a task force under WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state) and the Los Angeles task force of WikiProject California and WikiProject San Diego which has not been pulled under WikiProject United States yet. There are nine members in the Baltimore task force, and it has little activity and should be pulled under WikiProject United States. I will add U.S. cities WikiProjects to the {{US-related WikiProjects}} myself. I think Omaha and Myrtle Beach WikiProject should be pulled under WPUS since it has little activity. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 19:16, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I basically agree, I think we should leave a note on the project pages just as a notification at least but in the case of Myrtle beach we should be good because that one almost got deleted anyway. Haven't done much work on the others to know for sure. Ill send out some discussion notifications this weekend. I think we should give it a few days to get peoples comments (unlikely there will be many) before we just implement them though. I am working with EdoDodo to use his DodoBot to tag some articles so if an article contains or starts with Arizona for example and isn't already tagged the bot will do it. This won't work for every project of course but it should be very useful for things like Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming and others. Not so useful for ones like say American Old West. I also want to start tagging some articles for the American television and American music projects as well. There are quite a few defunct and inactive music projects that should be replaced by the music one IMO. I do not think we should add these individual band projects to US though. --Kumioko (talk) 20:24, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Well, what if possibly that WikiProject KYOVA Region can be pulled under WikiProject United States? For example, it has been semi-active and has only 19 members, including 194 articles in the scope. What if we can add U.S. regional WikiProjects to the {{US-related WikiProjects}} template along with US cities? Like I said Kumi, you've mention any auto assessment by DodoBot, since I've request for auto assessment for WP:ANIMATION and WP:HORROR myself, it would take up to about 2,000 or 4,000 articles for WikiProject American television based on my 2nd archive, and 6,000 articles for the auto assessment for WikiProject American Music, this would take up to about approximately 160,000 articles for WP:USA, just like WikiProject Football. I don't know, this American television WikiProject may overlap with WikiProject Television and WikiProject Television stations. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 10:53, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with pulling in KYOVO. I thought about US regions and US Cities too but since they are completely defunct like US Politicians I'm not sure if its worth the time or effort. Adding the other articles for music and television are fine IMO as are having overlap. I know some folks think having 2 projects with overlapping articles is bad but I think the more people looking at an article the better. --Kumioko (talk) 14:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, it is kind of very hard, since you pulling all US-related child projects under WikiProject United States. How about WikiProject New Hampshire Mountains? It is inactive and should be pulled under Wikipedia:WikiProject New Hampshire and WikiProject United States. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 23:57, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah there's a lot. I don't think we have too many more before were finished though. As for New Hampshire mountains I agree if New Hampshire becomes a supported project otherwise it would be better to add it to New Hampshire. Of course if they don't want to I would be glad to add it to the supported list. --Kumioko (talk) 00:04, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, just my two cents, I will add WikiProject KYOVA Region to the WikiProject United States banner myself since it has been semi-active. I don't know, this project may overlap with WikiProject Kentucky and WikiProject Ohio, and should have been overlapped with WikiProject West Virginia since you pulled WP:WV under WPUS. I used to love that show and would love to work on improving that article (although I've done no work on it yet), and I was wondering if you knew of any really quality sources for it? Let me know, because I might be interested in tackling that one down the road. — Hunter Kahn 20:01, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well yes, during my interview myself with SMasters, I would to love to see to bring Aaahh!!! Real Monsters to FA. The problem is that there are few sources, I am going try and find sources myself, so long they sourced per WP:V and WP:RS and may try to get to GA like South Park and Phineas and Ferb. Also note, I've created Category:Aaahh!!! Real Monsters myself including episode redirects to list. I am going to try reformat the Aaahh!!! Real Monsters episode list myself using the {{episode list}} template just like SpongeBob SquarePants episodes, which is very badly needed. If you're interested in animation, you can join WikiProject Animation if you want. Please note, that the WikiProject Animation banner has a 6 point B-Class criteria checklist, including 17 note parameters, and 20 work groups, please read the template documentation before using it. • Hey. Just FYI, I've started to do a bit of work on the page. I have access to NewsBank and Lexis Nexis and have found some sources in there. There are still lots more I have to look at, so hopefully it will lead to a substantial improvement at that page. — Hunter Kahn 16:31, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: User:Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars

Hello Jj98, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not blatantly vandalism or a hoax. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Danger (talk) 04:09, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject United States to do list

Greetings JJ! I saw the work you did to add to do list functionality to the template and I wanted to say thanks. I think you must have been reading my mind or something. I had an idea for this and created an initial template here. Initially I just create one for United States but I would like, if possible to do this for all the supported projects and then have it dynamically include the other projects if that project is selected. No biggie right..lol just kidding. Do have any idea how this might be done or if this is even a good idea? Any input or thoughts you have on this would be great. --Kumioko (talk) 14:11, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've added it just to model after {{WikiProject Kentucky}}, {{WikiProject Mississippi}} and {{WikiProject Tennessee}} banner. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 15:55, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks, thats a start. After reviewing how those templates function teh to do list would have to be for the article itself right? Wouldn't it be better to point it to a specific project related page? --Kumioko (talk) 16:45, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it simple. It has a listas parameter on the {{WikiProject United States}} banner just like WikiProject Biography which has 941,000 articles. Also, the {{WPBannerMeta}} has a listas parameter. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 17:44, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry my mistake I wasn't clear. The listas parameter is fine. Its the Todo that doesn't seem to be working quite right. --Kumioko (talk) 18:22, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's alight. I've must to have to borrowed some of the codes from the {{WikiProject Kentucky}} banner myself. The {{to do}} template is placed on the article's talk page when adding the {{WikiProject Kentucky}}, {{WikiProject Louisville}} or {{WikiProject United States}} banner to the page. It will populate at Category:United States articles with todo lists if the {{to do}} template is placed on the article's talk page, just like WikiProject Kentucky and WikiProject Louisville. thanks for fixing the NWT Supreme Court talk page

I'm still learning how the coding works - thanks for fixing the "Categories" box. I've made the same error with the NWT Court of Appeal page and NWT Territorial Court page, if you have the inclination to fix them as well? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talkcontribs) 05:20, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. It's the {{WPBannerMeta}}. It has |category=no on the banner for Project pages. If the |category=no is activated or the project banner placed on the article, or the article's talk page, it will have a warning or error that will populate at Category:WikiProject banners with formatting errors. Please remember to remove |category=no or the article's talk page next time. Thank you. Regards, JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 06:03, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I"m afraid I don't understand. Where do you find the {{WPBannerMeta}}. and the |category=no? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talkcontribs) 10:54, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Animation/Selected picture/39

To be really honest, I don't think this photo really fits in the Animation/Selected pictures gallery... it's not even in the Transformers article! --Janke | Talk 08:58, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Well, that the picture of the Peterbilt truck of Optimus Prime from Transformers universe from the shooting of the 2007 film, based on the animated series which originally ran from 1984 to 1988. This photo was taken by United States Air Force, not you. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 09:05, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, it was clearly stated who took the photo - but that is of no concern - the concern is that it is posted as a selected picture in Animation, while it isn't even in the Transformers article, and not even a picture from an animated movie! A requirement for WP:FPC is inclusion in an article... So keep all WP:fancruft out of the list, please! --Janke | Talk 06:37, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question about adding a couple categories to Template:WikiProject United States

Greetings JJ. I was hoping I could bother you with a question. It occurred to me this morning that now that we are adding projects with task forces to the template that it would be possible for someone to add something like Omaha with out Nebraska or Seattle without Washington. Would it be possible that you know of to add a couple categories for this type of situation? --Kumioko (talk) 13:39, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't know, Its been 9 months since I've joined WikiProject United States myself, I think that would be fine with me. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 09:45, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nickelodeon-stub

Hi Jj98 - your new stub type has ben speedily deleted, as it was a re-creation of a stub type which had previously been deleted after a process debate at WP:SFD. Please, in future, if you wish to create a new stub type, propose it first at WP:WSS/P, as is recommended at WP:Stub and WP:WikiProject Council/Guide#Article tagging. WikiProject To do lists

I noticed you removed the to do logic. Was that not working? --Kumioko (talk) 23:15, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What was wrong with the to do list logic in the template? --Kumioko (talk) 02:33, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
