November 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added such as to the pages American Jazz Museum and Avant-garde jazz do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the articles, please discuss it on the articles' talk pages before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. AllyD (talk) 08:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please see also the WP:COI policy. AllyD (talk) 08:53, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Sonny Rollins. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. You appear to be using Wikipedia strictly for self-promotion, which is not what it's here for. Special-T (talk) 13:20, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Rather than using up database space by adding your letter to the various pages onto which you were trying to place External Links, please note that the fundamental problems are the Wikipedia policies at WP:NOTLINK and WP:COI. Really, solid knowledge-based contributions to Wikipedia article texts are welcome; I don't doubt the quality of your site, but adding these pointers to it are not substantive addition to Wikipedia itself. AllyD (talk) 18:41, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - please read the policies before you continue adding links or adding explanations. What you are doing is clearly a conflict of interest per WP policy. Editors familiar with these policies will continue to remove the links. - Special-T (talk) 13:34, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
