Help has arrived[edit]

You wanted some help, here I am! How can I help you? You can ask your questions right here, and I will respond.--Commander Keane 19:01, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and thank you! I would like to start a stub article on Shiraishi Island, and island in the Inland Sea of Japan. I can cobble together 3 or 4 good sentences about it, but I really just want to past it into some template. I can't find a stub template and all the instructions seem quite involved. Can you help me?

Sure I can help! Don't worry about a template, just start the article (click on Shiraishi Island then "Start the Shiraishi Island article"). Save your info there, don't worry about the style I'll check over it and make sure it's like a standard Wikipedia stub aritcle. If you have any other questions let me know.--Commander Keane 19:32, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are fabulous!! I'll do it right now!! Thank you. Jayintheusa 19:38, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I did it! I have to step out for 30 minutes, but I'll check back late. Thanks again! Jayintheusa 19:56, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What a great article! I have gone through and "wikified" it (given it the usual Wikipedia style). In case you want to know I'll list the things I did below. The great thing about Wikipedia is that if you don't know how to do something you can just do your best and someone will come along and improve it.
The modifications I made:
  • Bolded article title - the article title is usually bolded. Example: '''Shiraishi Island''' will look like Shiraishi Island.
  • Linking to other articles - to do this you just enclose a word with square brackets. Eg for Kasaoka, putting [[Kasaoka]] in the edit window makes it a link; like Kasaoka.
  • Added a category - I put [[Category:Islands of Japan]] at the bottom of the article, so other readers can more easily find this article. I found it by searching for "Category:Japan" and looking in the subcategories.
Have a nice day!--Commander Keane 20:46, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help request[edit]

Hi! You need help with something?--Commander Keane 05:38, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, fabulous! (Are you a caped superhero or something??) Anyway, I'm ready to create another wiki stub, following the Shiraishi Island tips that you gave me last time. The problem is that I want to create a stub about a jazz composer and player named Duncan Lamont, but there is already another page with that name concerning a movie actor. Until a disambiguation page is created, how do I create a stub with the same name?

Can't wait for your advice!

You can put a qualfier in the title. For example Duncan Lamont (musician) or Duncan Lamont (Jazz composer) - anything you feel is appropriate.
Then we can either create a disambiguation page at Duncan Lamont OR just put a notice at the top of Duncan Lamont (the actor article) - something like For the jazz composer see Duncan Lamont (Jazz composer). I'll work with you to sort it out - don't worry if it seems daunting. I'm investigating a cape.--Commander Keane 05:54, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm all set for now! Jayintheusa 05:55, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rename[edit]

Hello. I've deleted your old user page as you requested, and fixed your signatures on this page to try and prevent Google from indexing that name. If you go to your old user page and user talk page and click "what links here", you will be able to find other references to it, which you might want to edit to show your new name. I've edited the rename archive and I don't think the automated rename log is indexed by Google. Angela. 00:40, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pavillon de Paris[edit]

Hi, I don't know how to format this request properly.... but can someone link the Pavillon de Paris article in the English wikipedia to the same article in the French version? And perhaps vice-versa?

Thanks! JayUSA

Done done and done, both the versions now link to each other, also don't forget to sign your posts.--Kerotan-Have a nice day :) 00:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Pavillon de Paris, 1976, Exterior1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Pavillon de Paris, 1976, Exterior1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 03:04, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Di-no permission[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Di-no permission. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calimo (talk) 10:06, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
