Stellenbosch External Link[edit]

Hi Janto,

As per [1], Wikipedia is not just a mere collection of external links ... that specific link does not add any value or serve to illustrate any issue mentioned in the article and IMHO could even be considered spam. I had to do some research on the shooto/shootfighting/shootwrestling. Most sources tended to mix them up, and some even gave inaccurate information. By checking a multitude of sites I was however able to separate the concepts (I think)! =] ---Marcus- 23:34, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think about this[edit]

Origin of name Stellenbosch[edit]

Hi Janto, Thank you for your feedback on the issue. I went and dug deeper and found that Simon van der Stel's wife was not a Bosch but Johanna Jacoba Six. Why so few Wikipedians are engineers?[edit]

I am trying to understand why there are so few Wikipedians who are graduate engineers. Once I get a grasp on that, perhaps I may be able to formulate some ideas on how to attract more experienced engineers to become Wikipedians. It would be very helpful if you would respond to these a few questions:

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Hi, I just saw your new article, Tai's Method — not bad! Couple things though: the use of "pointed out" isn't really in keeping with a neutral tone, (see WP:SAY) and the cited source was a blog, and hence unreliable. It's easy enough to check the citations in a database (now up to 140), so I left in the claim. The blog could be made into an external link instead. Thanks. I wasn't trying to use the blog link to make a claim that there are more than 75 citations. What I'm trying to say is there are blogs criticizing those 75+ authors.
