UFC 79 / Guillard's suspension[edit]

Your edit on UFC 79 about Melvin Guillard being unable to fight due to suspension is correct. His suspension is over on December 5 (eight months from April 5). Thesaddestday 03:21, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a source for you [1]. Thesaddestday 02:41, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

Hey there, and thanks for your contributions! I noticed you've been adding a lot of information about future events to MMA articles, the most recent being about the interim lightweight championship on Ultimate Fighting Championship. Usually, these tables serve to display a record of events that have already happened, and as such future events are inappropriate to put in them. Please reply on my talk page or on WT:MMA if you've got any concerns. Thanks! east.718 at 21:49, 11/3/2007

I don't really care too strongly, which is why I haven't been reverting you. It would be better for the whole community to weigh in on WT:MMA. Cheers, east.718 at 22:19, 11/3/2007

Re: TUF 6[edit]

That's interesting, my understanding was that they were to simply train with Hughes for that one fight. I'll leave it your way as it's more ambiguous; hopefully the next episode will clear it up. Cheers, east.718 at 07:58, November 17, 2007

Upcoming fights[edit]

Please remove the "rumors" note from upcoming UFC events. We have enough trouble as it is with people posting rumors on there, and that warning seems to have helped out at least a little bit on the pages its posted on. Thank you! Tuckdogg 16:17, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UFC 84 revert[edit]

While the rumoured fight was not a usable addition the fact they bothered to cite it was good. It dose not fall under the definition of WP:Vandalism please remember to assume good faith.--Nate1481(t/c) 09:33, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why would they know? This may be the first time the first time they have edited a UFC, or similar, article. Until you know for certain, e.g. the same person keeps putting it back after you have explained why rumours are not added, it is explicitly not vandalism. Please read the policy, we want to encourage people to use sources and to edit even if they make a few mistakes at first. --Nate1481(t/c) 09:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Leben[edit]

Any particular reason you removed a source and note on this page without any explanation? I have reverted you, please provide an explanation the next time you make an edit like that, or it could be construed as vandalism. Thanks, VegaDark (talk) 15:19, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • "I removed it because some fighters dont have citations right next to their record..." - I don't see how this is valid reasoning. Some fighters' pages don't have a lot of things. It doesn't necessarily mean that the content should be removed, did you think that it could be because the ones without it simply need it added? I don't see how a reference or a note in that section is a bad thing, and would support it being added on other pages. "and there is a link to their MMA record on the bottom of the page" - True, but we need to cite our sources. I'd rather have users be able to discern what source is citing the fight record rather than have to get the information from the external links section. By "revert" I mean undid your changes. I didn't undo all of them, only the one that removed that information. I also just recently reverted your removal of Chris Leben's IMDB link. Your explanation for that was "not a valid link", yet the link worked and went to the right person, so I'm not sure what you mean by that. VegaDark (talk) 02:55, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Arianny Celeste[edit]

A tag has been placed on Arianny Celeste requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Booglamay (talk) 21:05, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

April 2008[edit]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to UFC 85: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. It was a Good faith edit and, while incorrect, not Vandalism Nate1481(t/c) 09:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I call it being new. To quote the policy
Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism.
It was misguided but it was a rumoured match-up. A summery saying; "Please only include confirmed match-ups from reliable sources, reports of rumours are not enough" would tell the editor what the problem was, and they might be able to go and find that source to use, rather than be annoyed and leaving the project entirely. --Nate1481(t/c) 07:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable DREAM-fighters[edit]

Hey, just wanted to hear your reasoning for removing Ronaldo de Souza, Alistair Overeem, Eddie Alvarez and Melvin Manhoef from the notable fighters section on the DREAM page. I think they're all notable, Ronaldo being one of the top submission wrestlers in the world and up-and-coming MMA-fighter (as his win over Mayhem show), Overeem is a PRIDE veteran and, as it said, Strikeforce Champion, Manhoef is a HERO's and K-1 veteran and Alvarez was a champion in bodogFIGHT and is one of the favorites to win the Grand Prix. Nothing personal, just didn't want to revert you as you seem like a good guy :P Thanks! --Aktsu (talk) 06:14, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I see your point. Now it's more a list of famous fighters fighting in DREAM when it should be list of fighters who have accomplished something notable there. I guess we should either remove the section completely or just let it be until the first Champions are crowned. Anyway, thanks for helping out with the MMA-articles! Also, take a look at WikiProject Mixed martial arts (although the project, sadly, seems a bit dead at the moment). --Aktsu (talk) 06:14, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Thiago Silva wins by KO not TKO[edit]

I actually looked it up on Sherdog. You can see for yourself that it says TKO: http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Keith-Jardine-2638

So as far as I could see it was TKO, however once Atksu provided the link to the official result PDF published by Oregon I was glad to be proven wrong. It isn't civil to call someone an idiot and you should learn to assume good faith. I didn't call you any names over your edit and it seems like you are taking things way too personally. I really would have expected better from somebody who has been editing Wikipedia for as long as you have. --Drr-darkomen (talk) 22:25, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
