Arbitration

  • Following the banning of an editor by the WMF last year, the Arbitration Committee resolved to hold an RfC regarding on-wiki harassment. The RfC has been posted at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Anti-harassment RfC and is open to comments from the community.
  • The Medicine case was closed, with a remedy authorizing standard discretionary sanctions for all discussions about pharmaceutical drug prices and pricing and for edits adding, changing, or removing pharmaceutical drug prices or pricing from articles.

Redirects

I would like to redirect Interstellarity to my user page at User:Interstellarity. I would like to redirect Talk:Interstellarity to this talk page. Am I allowed to do that? Interstellarity (talk) 12:18, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

That would be a cross-namespace redirect, and it'd probably be speedy deleted per WP:R2. So, not a good idea. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 12:32, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
@NinjaRobotPirate: Thanks for the feedback. I will not do that. Interstellarity (talk) 12:33, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Important Notice

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Doug Weller talk 14:13, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello Doug Weller. I do not quite understand what this means. Is the policy behind this similar to BLPs? I know in BLPs, we need to be careful about what we write about them because it can damage their reputation. If you could provide clarification, that would be helpful. Interstellarity (talk) 00:45, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Basically it means that on all pages (not just articles) including user talk pages, you need to follow policies and guidelines carefully, be civil, and avoid editwarring. Those who don't can be blocked sitewide or topic banned from the area. Note that this is a very wide area. Doug Weller talk 12:12, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
@Doug Weller: Thanks for the explanation. No matter which topic area I edit in, I always try my best to follow Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I haven’t had any recent issues with my editing that involves incivility and edit warring although I am aware of those policies. I was blocked before and learnt from it. I’m trying my best to help Wikipedia whenever I can. Interstellarity (talk) 15:18, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Good. I do need to point out that your edit at BLM removing "anti-racist" was the sort of edit that you should avoid making. It was a very major change and anything like that needs discussion first on the talk page. You also should have checked to see if it was sourced in the body of the article. Doug Weller talk 15:22, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
@Doug Weller: If you haven't seen it, I have opened up a discussion about my edit on the talk page. See here. I do get edits that are reverted a lot, but I try to do the right thing by discussing it on talk. Interstellarity (talk) 17:48, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
That's good. Doug Weller talk 18:31, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Your help desk question

I just read this help desk question which no one responded to. Sorry I'm way behind on the archives. Did you find an answer? I wouldn't know how.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:48, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

@Vchimpanzee: It's all resolved. Interstellarity (talk) 01:39, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

State visit of Michael D. Higgins to the United Kingdom

Where was the consensus for the name change that you made? Laurel Lodged (talk) 12:18, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello Laurel Lodged and thanks for reaching out. I thought this move might be uncontroversial so I didn't seek a consensus before moving it. You are welcome to move it back, but to avoid move warring, opening up a move discussion on the talk page might help. Interstellarity (talk) 20:40, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Our dispute

Interstellarity, I just want to apologize for not initially responding to you. I was afraid because I'm a noob (lol) and didn't want to cause conflict. Was that wrong of me? Yes. We may still disagree about the RMs, but I don't want that to define our interactions now or in the future and so in the end I have decided to let someone else make the closing decisions. I don't want to be enemies, and I think we kind of got off on the wrong foot. Can we begin anew? Supernova58 (talk) 04:41, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello Supernova58 and thanks for reaching out. It seems like you are a good faith contributor that wants the best for Wikipedia. I certainly don't want to be enemies with you. There are editors who have a rough start on Wikipedia who eventually become productive contributors. We certainly can interact with each other in a positive way. I recommend that you ask questions and get help at the Teahouse where experienced editors can guide you in the right direction. I hope this helps. Interstellarity (talk) 11:27, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! Glad we could make amends :) Supernova58 (talk) 14:50, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
