Fair use rationale for Image:Mineslogo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mineslogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 19:27, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 19[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Harry's New York Bar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page For Your Eyes Only (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A tag has been placed on File:Ddrrearthumb1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. What talk page section[edit]

Impreziv, this LSD edit may have been the right move since none of the items were cited [1] but I don't see a talk page discussion on the subject. What talk page were you referring to? Springee (talk) 22:36, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Springee: Took me a few minutes to add the notes to the Talk section, just added them now. I would have looked for references for a few of them myself, but honestly, many of those names are so old that it would be hard to find good, honest references. Many of them only live on today as community knowledge within car enthusiast communities. Maybe some original scans of old brochures would be the best bet. Also lots of the data was just wrong, and lazy. Like "Toyota: LSD", thats not a brand name, just an abbreviation. --Impreziv (talk) 22:43, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No problem and thanks for adding the comment to the talk section. With all the bad information removal was probably best. I personally wish there were better sources where one could cite how some of the various LSD examples work. Unfortunately many are sources that don't meet RS rules and honestly, so many get basic engineering facts wrong. How many times do sources claim a locked/welded/spool diff transfers equal power to both sides? No! It ensures equal velocities and distributes torque as needed (including 0 torque if one wheel is in the air). Since power=torque*velocity, 0 torque = 0 power. Sorry, that's a bit of a rant of mine. It applies a lot to descriptions of AWD systems. Springee (talk) 03:10, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
