I had feared that luck of the draw might deliver a mundane topic to simply dredge through, whereas I am excited about the topic you will develop because it happens to align with areas of my own interest. The edit you made here was reverted. The person who reverted the edit should have done better to explain their reason in the edit summary and I will contact them if necessary. I believe their reason was because the content was not referenced. Anyway this is commonplace as information in Wikipedia needs the support of a reference. I did notice you linked to the Wikipedia article on the 2008 South Ossetia war. It is great that you did this and these are things I would advise you to do, but Wikipedia does not qualify as a reference for content inclusion. The user who reverted your edit could have just as easily added a template requesting the citation. In any regard the best way to add content is to include a reference with any facts you append. Here is an example which uses an actual reference that you could use. I'll show you more things on references later, like naming references so they can be cited more than once when different facts come from the same reference.

In August 2008, Russia invaded Georgia, in what is now known as the 2008 South Ossetia war.

For this example you must copy the text as it appears in edit mode from the word In all the way through to include where it ends with ref>. I was going to do this for you but I think it will be best for you to try it yourself. The information is useful and with a reference I am confident it will last much longer. The references section I added to this talk page was only to demonstrated how the reference will appear when it is in the article. So try adding your content with the reference and things should work out better. My76Strat 03:42, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

By the way, I have more closely reviewed the reference I provided and it seems to indicate the invasion was a justified response to Georgian aggression. In light of this fact, The context is important because some might object to any inference that the "invasion" was unjustified or even the impetus of the war. You might want to elaborate so your inclusions are fully reflective of the references used. If you have references which suggest otherwise, a balanced presentation of the opposing views could be appropriate. I am interested in how you will choose to proceed from here. Regards. Good point. From what I've read, it's debated whether the war was premeditated by Russia or a legitimate response to Georgian aggression. In any case, I find it odd that this war isn't mentioned on the History of Georgia page. Somebody even pointed that out on the talk page. Thanks again for your help! With this edit I replaced the content you had appended, while adding a reference. As you correctly stated, this is useful information, and its omission glares. I did change some articulation to ensure it is factually as neutral as I could devise IAW the reference. You are welcome and encouraged to elaborate on the information where appropriate.
