Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Hordak1! I am Dr. Szląchski and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Help requesst[edit]

{{helpme}} I would like to start a page for the Masters of the Universe character Megator and would like help getting started evn some help from other editors would be welcomed! Hordak1 (talk) 16:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there.
The best thing to do would be, try and make the article in your own user space first. For example, User talk:Hordak1/sandbox - that will (currently) be a 'red link', because the page does not exist - but you can click on it, and make the page.
I suggest that you have a look in List of Masters of the Universe characters#1987 2, and look at the existing articles on other characters to get ideas.
You should also read WP:FIRST.
Best thing overall is to a) have a go (in that user sandbox page), and b) ask for help whenever you need it.
One of the most important things is to give references to reliable sources, such as newspapers, books, etc. I will add some help on referencing below.
Good luck with it all; For more help, you can either;
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  16:44, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More help on Megator Article[edit]

{{helpme}} Ok thanks but still need more help! Sorry I have edited plenty of articles but this is the first I have tried to create! Okay got the box but can't get this image in http://www.grayskullmuseum.com/conception/box20.jpg or one of these http://www.treasuretitan.com/tt/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=102:megator-&catid=36:creatures&Itemid=440 . Also can't take this out of the box in the article(i don't need it): Name {{{Name}}} I don't see it when I click edit. Also how do I make the article go live when I finish? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hordak1/sandboxHordak1 Hordak1 (talk) 20:12, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please could you either ask things on my talk page, or use a helpme. I was already composing a reply to your questions; if other helpers come along and respond to the helpme, it will be a duplicated effort.
I will have replied to your message on my talk page within the next few minutes, so please check back there, in user talk:chzz#Thanks Again & more help! shortly.  Chzz  ►  20:24, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've answered now; sorry for the delay - I had internet problems.
For future reference - you might find it quicker and easier to get help by talking to us live, with this or this.  Chzz  ►  21:33, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied in user talk:chzz#Another Question.  Chzz  ►  23:20, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How references work[edit]

Simple references[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Hordak1/reftest and try it out.

Named references[edit]

Chzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook">
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 02:10, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Previous help[edit]

In casde you wonder where the help stuff has gone, it's in my archives - I moved it from my user talk, because it was getting ridiculously long (yet again). So, it's mostly in User_talk:Chzz/Archive_12 (or one of the others). Cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:07, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Megator[edit]

The article Megator has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not mentioned at ref 1, does not indicate encyclopedic notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Jeandré (talk), 2009-09-09t18:00z 18:00, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Scare Glow[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Scare Glow. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scare Glow. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:10, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
