Copyright problems, Ian Starnes[edit]

Thank you very much for pointing out the problem with the images placed at Ian Starnes. The watermark strongly suggests that they might be a copyvio. I just wanted to let you know that images are handled a bit differently than text when we find copyright concerns there. They aren't listed at WP:CP with the {{copyvio}}, but instead are generally handled at the possibly unfree files board. In this particular case, it's even more complicated in that the images aren't on Wikipedia at all, but are linked through Wikimedia Commons. We don't have a forum for addressing copyright concerns on Commons here, so I've tagged them for review there.

I myself have often struggled with handling image problems, enough so that I eventually compiled a guideline for image deletion. If you run into issues with images in the future, you might find it helpful in figuring out just how to handle what and where. :) Again, though, I very much appreciate that you took the time to note the problem with the images, which otherwise seem to have flown under the radar! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:32, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
